Marcia Lynn Wallace Swenson, 77, of Ogden, UT, passed away peacefully at her home – surrounded by her loving family – on the evening of July 5, 2025, following health complications associated with diabetes.
Born on October 19, 1947, in Newton, IA, Marcia was the daughter of Robert L. and Willadean Fern (Steenhoek) Wallace. She graduated from Janesville Senior High School in Janesville, WI, in 1965, after which time she moved to Utah and attended Weber State College in Ogden, UT.
Marcia was first married to Daniel C. Eppich on July 18, 1967, in the Logan LDS Temple. Together, they had three children. Their marriage ended in divorce. On December 21, 1996, Marcia married Val D. Swenson in the Bountiful LDS Temple. Val and Marcia settled in the Uintah Highlands of South Ogden, UT, where Marcia worked for nearly 30 years at McKay-Dee Hospital (later Intermountain Health) in the medical center’s business office as a patient services representative. Among her many lifelong friends, Marcia was known for her unwavering kindness and compassion.
Beyond her professional life, Marcia was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and held many church callings in the Relief Society, Young Womens, and Primary in the Riverdale 2nd Ward and later the Wasatch Ward.
She was an avid reader and especially enjoyed fictional mysteries and thrillers. She loved baking, hosting family dinners, and enjoying clam chowder and fried shrimp from Ivar’s in Seattle. More than anything else, Marcia loved her shih-tzu/poodle mix named Teddy. Her furry friend was by her side until the very end.
Marcia is survived by her husband of 27 years, Val D. Swenson; their seven children (from previous marriages), Greg Eppich of Seattle, WA, Kristine (John) Minnoch of Bellevue, WA, Mark (Marie) Eppich of Layton, UT, Kathy (Tony) Christensen of Kaysville, UT, Jeff Swenson, Josh (Amber) Swenson, and Jeremy (Rachel) Swenson of Meridian, ID; 17 cherished grandchildren, Connor, Jaren, and McKenna Minnoch, Kamree and Hunter Eppich, Zach (Alexis) Christensen, Marissa (Quincy) Loertscher, and Kyler, Rudie, Tyler, Noah, Paige, Lyla, Tucker, Tanner, Kaden, and Abigail Swenson; 2 great-grandchildren, Addalyn and Zoey Christensen; and her two brothers, Gary (Diane) Wallace and Robert (Tammy) Wallace. She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert L. and Willadean Fern (Steenhoek) Wallace; her daughter-in-law, Shauna Swenson; and grandchild, Eden Swenson.
Special thanks to the nurses and caregivers from Inspiration Home Health and Hospice for taking care of our sweet mom, grandma, and great-grandma for the past several weeks.
