Our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, Marcia Taylor Gardiner, passed away peacefully on June 18, 2025, at IMC Hospital in Murray, Utah, surrounded by family. She was 71 years old.
Marcia was born on April 8, 1954, in Logan, Utah, to Darwin Wayne and Neelyne Corbridge Taylor. She graduated from Ogden High School in 1972. On May 24, 1978, she married the love of her life, Stanley James Gardiner in the Ogden Utah Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Together, they built a life grounded in faith, family, and service, mostly spent in Roy, Utah.
A devoted member of the Church, Marcia held numerous callings throughout her life and found joy and purpose in serving others. Her hands were rarely still—she loved crocheting, needlepoint, and especially reading. One of her favorite traditions was gathering with friends in Bear Lake to quilt, enjoying each other’s company. She was also an avid bowler for many years and formed lifelong friendships through the leagues she participated in.
She was a world traveler, with many road trips across the US. She also embarked on numerous overseas adventures to exotic locales, both on land and by ship. Most recently she attended a number of shows in Branson, MO which she enjoyed immensely.
Marcia dedicated 36 years of service to the IRS, taking on many roles before her well-earned retirement. Outside of work, she cherished every moment with her family—whether cheering on the Utah Jazz or the Ogden Raptors, playing cards or board games, or dining out at one of her favorite restaurants like Ricardo’s or Graycliff Lodge
She loved her grandchildren and spent as much time as she could with them. Whether that was going to dinner, watching a movie, playing card games, or any other activity. She was also sure to attend every event she possibly could: whether it was an elementary graduation, a sporting event, a dance or music recital, a play, high school graduation, or anything else. If she could, she was there.
She is survived by her loving husband, Stan; her children: Brett (Shelley) Gardiner; Brandon (Stephanie) Gardiner; and BriAnn (Seth) Peterson; treasured grandchildren: Kade, Ty, Nickelle, TJ, Mylee, Kaylin, Tensley, Easton, Jaxson, and Oakley; brother Kevin (Kim) Taylor; and sisters Vickie (Jim) Urry and Lori (Tim) Reeder. Marcia was preceded in death by her son Brian; parents, Darwin and Neelyne; her parents-in-law James and Norrine Gardiner; as well as numerous extended loved ones.
Her family extends heartfelt thanks to the organ donors that gave us 2+ extra years to have with Marcia, as well as to the ICU team at McKay-Dee Hospital, the TICU team at IMC, and the transplant team who cared for her with extraordinary compassion during the last years of her life.
Marcia’s legacy is one of unwavering faith, resilient love, and radiant warmth. She lived a life of quiet strength and let her actions show her testimony in all she did, and her memory will forever be cherished by all who knew her. Her legacy lives on in her children and grandchildren, in the quiet acts of kindness and service they carry forward. We know she will be watching over us until we meet again.
Graveside services will be held at the Hooper City Cemetery on Friday, June 27th at 11:00AM.
