Lynn W. Harris, a dearly loved husband, father, grandpa and friend passed away peacefully at his home on May 14, 2026, at the age of 95.
Lynn was born on November 28, 1930, in American Fork, Utah. He grew up on a family farm with two brothers and three sisters during the depression where he learned the value of hard work and how to create what was needed out of minimal resources.
He served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Swiss Austria Mission. Afterwards, he joined the army and was stationed in Germany during the Korean War.
When he returned home, he met the love of his life, Evelyn Murray, and they were sealed in the Salt Lake City Temple on December 19, 1957. After graduating from Brigham Young University, the couple moved to Ogden, Utah where they purchased their first home and have lived there ever since. Their home was blessed with three daughters and one son.
Lynn was a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served diligently in all his callings. When there was an opportunity to serve, he was the first one there.
He was a great listener. One thing he taught was that “time is love and love is time.” He spent much of his time working alongside us teaching us and showing us the things that were important to him while valuing the things that were important to us.
Throughout his life, Lynn shared his positive outlook, his zeal for life, and his witty, fun sense of humor with all he encountered. All relished his company. As a family we were captivated listening to his stories of his growing up on the farm, milking cows, taming his horse Diamond, and completing many chores. He too related many spiritual experiences from his mission and time spent serving his country.
He was a nurturer in all aspects of life from gardening, animals and most importantly his children and grandchildren.
He was kind, gentle and a perfect example of a loving husband, father and grandfather. We will never forget his lifelong pursuit in supporting his bride and placing her first in his life. A true gentleman, Lynn understood the meaning of marriage.
He is survived by his wife, Evelyn; daughters, Sherilyn Schoonmaker (Dave), Janalee Stinger (Gary), Juleen Maree Sherman (Jeff); son, Thomas Lynn Harris (Emily); 19 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Louise Wilcox (Robert) and Karen Newman.
We appreciate all those who spent time with and sweetly cared for Lynn these past few years so he could remain in his home: friends and neighbors, Home Health Care, Hospice and our wonderful CNA, who we love and who will always be a part of our family.
