She was awarded the Extra Mile Award from the Board of Education in 1991.

She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and served in different leadership roles where she was a good and faithful servant to the end.

Lucy Ella is survived by one sister, Dora Vigil; her children, Ken Vigil (Roma) and Paula Vigil-Yates (Ken). She has seven grandchildren, Isaac, Jenny, Luke, Maya, Nathan, Maggie, and Serena; and three great-grandchildren, Emma, Korvin and Kanyian. She was preceded in death by her husband, Benjamin Paul Vigil; and her son, Ronald Dean Vigil; her brothers, Mack Allen (Winnie) and Wilfred Martinez (Lola).
