LUCILLE PIQUETTE

1926 – 2024

Lucille Haggard Piquette passed away peacefully at Fairfield Village Memory Care Center in Layton, Utah March 12, 2024 at the impressive age of 97 years, 8 months old.

Lucille (Lucy) was born June 29, 1926 to Ora Mae and Charles Lee Haggard, Sr. at Clark County Hospital in Winchester, Kentucky.  She was raised there along with 5 siblings, all of whom have predeceased her.  She has been the sole survivor of the family for 14 years.

She moved to Missoula, Montana in one of the coldest winters on record in Montana history.   However, it was a good move because she met our father, John Louis Piquette, her one and only husband.  They were married on September 1, 1951 at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Missoula, Montana.  They moved to Utah in 1958.  Although John passed away in 1970, Lucy remained in Utah for her lifetime.   She was a devoted member of St. Olaf’s Catholic Church in Bountiful, Utah.

She moved to Barton Creek Assisted Living in Bountiful in 2013.   She spent 10 years there prior to transferring to Fairfield Village.  Lucy received excellent care and enjoyed her time at Barton Creek.  We are especially grateful to Valerie, of Barton Creek, who facilitated her move to Fairfield and continued to check in and visit with her.

Lucy was quite a character and said pretty much anything that came to her mind (to our dismay sometimes).  For that reason, she was quite a favorite at Fairfield Village.  All the nurses and aides have come up to us to sincerely say:   “I Love Lucy!”

Special thanks to our brother Charles Piquette for his loving care for our mother for the past 5 years when he returned to Utah. The entire staff of Fairfield Village Memory Care Center, her hospice nurse, Angie, provided sincere and excellent care and guided us through the final weeks with consideration and empathy.

She was predeceased by her parents, all of her siblings and her grandson Ryan O’Connell.  She is survived by her children:  Mary Anne (Kevin) O’Connell, Anita Denise (Ray) Crow, and Charles Lee (Cristie) Piquette.  Also surviving are two grandchildren, Lisa Noble and Mark O’Connell, as well as a great-granddaughter Gemma Noble.

She will be buried at Bountiful City Cemetery with funeral arrangements by Lindquist’s Bountiful Mortuary.   There will be a private family burial and a memorial service honoring her life at a later date.
