Luana Dale Gunnell Fowers

Luana Dale Gunnell Fowers passed away December 8, 2021, of natural causes at the age of 90. Born on February 18, 1931, in Logan, Utah to Louis J. Gunnell and Sarah Hawkins, the youngest of seven children. She spent her younger years in Bridge, Idaho and Brigham City, Utah where she attended Box Elder High School.

She married Howard G Fowers on March 16, 1961, in the Salt Lake Temple and made their home in South Weber, Utah with their 6 boys. She had many talents including painting, crafts, playing the piano by ear and she wrote beautiful poetry. She was a very compassionate, loving and nurturing mother. She had a tremendous love for family, she loved camping with her husband and boys every summer. She was a wonderful cook and candy maker; her Christmas treats were a family favorite. She loved watching the Utah Jazz, “Great Performances” on PBS and she loved a good comedy. She had a great sense of humor and loved to laugh.

She was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving in many capacities including Relief Society President. After Howard passed away, she married Ron Thomson. The two of them were great companions for the past 14 years.

She was proceeded in death by her parents, her siblings, Margaret (DeLore), Dorothy (Babe), Ruth (Luther), Junior (Edra), Velma (Bill), and Dean (Beth), her husband, Howard, and her sons Jeff and Brandt. She is survived by her husband, Ron, her sons, Kevin (Susie), Bryan (Shauna), Daron (Kara), Quinn (Janelle), and daughter-in-law Melanee, 20 grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Friday, December 17, 2021, at the Woodland Park Chapel, 2400 No. University Park Blvd., Layton, Utah.  Friends may visit with family Thursday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Rd., Layton, Utah and Friday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church.

Interment, Lindquist’s Memorial Gardens of the Wasatch, 1718 Combe Rd., Ogden, Utah.
