October 9, 1930 ~ May 25, 2016

OGDEN – Lou Jean Dinsdale Chadwick, 85, our beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother returned home to her Heavenly Father on May 25, 2016, surrounded by her family.  She was born in Ogden, UT on October 9, 1930, to very loving and caring parents, Ernest Vernal and Hazel Billings Dinsdale.

During the war years the family moved to Washington Terrace where she attended Weber County Schools and graduated from Weber High in 1948.  She was always proud to have been a cheerleader for the basketball team which took State in 1948.  She made many lifetime friends from this class.

She married Keith E. Chadwick on August 1, 1949 in the Logan LDS Temple.  Together they had three children. Keith passed away on November 14, 2014.  They divorced later in life but remained good friends.

She worked at Roy High School and Weber State College.  She was the secretary to five principles at Bonneville High and retired after 21 years.  She also ran the Bonneville Community School for several years.

Lou Jean was a devout member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.  She had an unwavering faith in the living gospel of Jesus Christ.  She lived by its teachings and had a solid testimony.  She served in many capacities in the church and organized the ward library in the Ogden 44th Ward.  She served in leadership and teaching positions for the Primary, Young Womens, and Relief Society.  Her most loved calling was Relief Society President.

Lou Jean is survived by her two daughters, Karen (Steven) Thomas of Sammamish, WA and Teri (Carl) Whiteley of North Ogden; nine grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.  Also surviving are two sisters, Patsy Moffett, Washington Terrace and Sally Hansen, Roy; and one brother, Bill (Carol) Dinsdale of Houston, TX.  She was preceded in death by her parents, son, Michael, and a brother, Tom Dinsdale.

Funeral services for Lou Jean will be held on Tuesday, May 31, 2016 at 2 p.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd.  Friends may visit family on Tuesday from 12 to 1:30 p.m. at the mortuary.  Interment, Lindquist’s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd.

The family wishes to thank Legacy Assisted Living of Ogden for their tender care over these past several years and also to Encompass Hospice.
