Louise Thomas Franke

February 22, 1931 — January 23, 2024

Bountiful

Louise Thomas Franke passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on January 23, 2024, of causes incident to age. Louise was born February 22, 1931, to William Louis Thomas and Zella Marie Sorensen in Salt Lake City, Utah, as a twin to LaRue Stauffer and sister to Marie Heath. She met the love of her life, Raymond Franke, at age 14 at a stake roadshow practice, and they were later married in the Salt Lake Temple on May 26, 1950.

Her civic involvement included many years of service on the Westside Community Council, and the Salt Lake City Public Utilities Advisory Committee. She worked as an accounts receivable supervisor at Mountain Bell Telephone Company. After retirement she took up golf and enjoyed time with her golfing ladies.

Louise had a great love of travel, which included annual trips to locations within the U.S., to exotic trips around the world with her beloved husband and travel companions, Parker and Lila Stoll. She loved attending symphonies and plays, reading, spending time with family at their beloved family cabin in the Uintah Mountains. In recent years she enjoyed sitting in the sun on her back porch looking at her beautiful yard, but most of all she loved sharing stories and building memories with family and friends. She was cherished by her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. She will be greatly missed.

Louise is preceded in death by her husband, parents, and sister Marie (Grant) Heath. She is survived by her twin sister LaRue (Donald) Stauffer; two children, Diane Franke and Karen (Scott) Kimber; three grandchildren, Kamille (Steven) McClanahan, Sterling (Ellen) Kimber, and Andrew (Katelyn) Kimber; and seven great grandchildren.
