Louisa Morfin Martinez, 95, passed away peacefully to be with her savior, Jesus Christ, on the day we celebrate His birthday, December 25, 2025.
Louisa was born in September 1930 to Eudoro Morfin and Cecilia Salazar Morfin in Mesa De Poleo, Coyote, New Mexico. She attended public schools in New Mexico and later graduated with honors from Latin American Bible Institute (LABI) in Ysleta, Texas.
She then served as a missionary in Texas and Mexico. In 1952, Mom moved with her family to Ogden, Utah. She married our father, Jacob Martinez Jr. in October 1955. They had five children, Stella, Louis, David, Lorie, and Samuel. She has seven grandchildren, Toby, Lori, Carly, Megan, Hunter, Kristen, and AJ; six great grandchildren, Kylee, Dakota, Deagon, Kapri, Van, and Sage; and two great-great grandchildren, Kaleah and Kailani. Mom became a 5th generation Grammie on Thanksgiving Day 2020.
Louisa worked as a CNA for Weber County Hospital in Roy, Utah, which later became Heritage Park Care Center, where she retired after more than 30 years of service.
Louisa was an amazing wife, mother, Grammie, Tia and friend. She was strong, kind and welcoming to everyone. She had many talents, including crocheting to perfection. Her last crocheting project was a 57”x40” image of the Last Supper. She was a wonderful cook and enjoyed cooking delicious meals for her family and friends. She enjoyed listening to bible scriptures, and watching Billy Graham and Jimmy Swaggart Ministries, Wheel of Fortune and lately, Judge Judy. Mom was a member of New Hope Assembly of God for over 70 years, and most recently attended Alpine Church in West Haven.
Louisa is survived by her children, Stella Maestas, Louis, David, and Samuel Martinez; and by her brothers, Isaias and Baltazar Morfin. She was preceded in death by her husband Jacob; daughter, Lorie; parents, Eudoro and Cecilia; brothers, Christobal, Urban, Jose and Eluid; and sisters, Eutilia, Anita, Raquel, and Orla.
We would like to extend a special thank you to all family and friends who visited Mom weekly, it meant so much to her and kept her in good spirits. We are especially grateful for the caregivers and staff at Seasons Assisted Living, and Trevor and MJ with Belle Vie Hospice. You have all been so special to Mom through this journey.
“For God so loved the world that He gave his one and only son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.”, John 3:16. Vaya Con Dios Mom.
