It is with heavy hearts and fond memories that we announce the passing of Lorraine Whetton, 74, born September 9, 1950, to Melvin and Ramona Whetton in Ogden , Utah, and passed away on September 28, 2024. Lorraine was a kind and caring person who shared her love for others through acts of kindness, sharing gifts and always willing help however she could.
She grew up in Washington Terrace and attended the local schools and graduated from Bonneville High School. She attended a school of cosmetology and worked as a hair stylist for many years. She later worked at IRS and retired after 25 years of service.
Lorraine is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in several callings throughout her life. She was called to serve in the Relief Society in a few different roles including teaching and visiting teacher coordinator. She also loved teaching the youth in Sunday School.
A highlight of her church service was being the Stake Camp Director for a large group of girls in multiple wards in Washington Terrace. She organized and planned activities where the girls acquired many skills for life. Last but not least, Lorraine had the opportunity to actively participate in the Hill Camorah Pageant many years ago. She cherished this spiritual experience throughout her life.
Lorraine had many talents and interests. She loved to grow plants and flowers. Her yard was beautiful with the variety of flowerbeds and potted plants. She also enjoyed crocheting many baby blankets, hats, and bibs that she generously donated to the local hospitals for moms and newborns.
She loved being around our whole family during the holidays and at family events throughout the years. She had a special love for her nieces and nephews and enjoyed spending time with them. She was thoughtful and gift giving to each of them on their birthdays and holidays. We loved her dearly and she will be missed by everyone.
A private family graveside service will be held at Lindquist’s Memorial Gardens of the Wasatch, 1718 Combe Rd. Services entrusted to Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary.
