Lois Arlene Frint Browning

February 4, 1930 — May 24, 2025

West Jordan

Born February 4, 1930 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Nora Black and Floyd William Frint. At the age of 95, she passed away peacefully in the evening of May 24, 2025 at her granddaughter’s home in West Jordan, Utah.

Arlene grew up in Salt Lake City and attended South High School. She later graduated from Stevens Henegar Business College. She was a proud and active member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority for most of her life and enjoyed the service opportunities it provided her. She worked various jobs in finance and insurance and was proud to be a Kelly Girl. The majority of her life she worked at Prudential Federal Savings in downtown SLC. She worked for over 70 years and actually retired three times. Once from Surety Life Insurance, Bettilyon Mortgage, and Wheeler Machinery/ICM. She also helped Alan and Peggy at their Arctic Circle in Prineville, Oregon in the 80’s.

There was nothing more important to grandma than family. She spent a lot of time with her kids and grandkids and in her words, “they are all so great and grand.” If she wasn’t spending time with her own family, she always found someone to serve. She was very proud of her heritage and would tell anyone about it who would listen. She was also very proud of her age and would often introduce herself as her age before her name.

She loved making crafts with recycled jewelry, alphabet block trees, and blankets. She was always reading and writing to keep her mind young and sharp and moving her arms and legs to stay young. If there was a game to be played, she mastered it. Some of her favorites were bunko, cat and mouse, and swingball; and we can’t forget about her bowling. You could always find us at the bowling alley for her birthday.

She enjoyed her time living with her daughter and best friend Connie for 30 years. Upon Connie’s death, she moved to Manila with her son Alan and wife Peggy. She always loved helping at the family restaurant and motel up there.

She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and had a testimony of Jesus Christ. She was so proud of her grandchildren and great grandchildren who faithfully served missions. At the age of 18, she shorthand transcribed patriarchal blessings for the church patriarch.

She’s the best grandma. Many friends who came into our lives, also got the honor of calling her grandma. We wish everyone had a grandma like ours. She lived through the Great Depression, indoor plumbing, modern inventions including televisions, telephones, and the Internet. In her words, “Wow, what a ride!”

Survived by her son Alan Browning (Peggy) and grandchildren Ken Browning (Camille), Shari Ryan (Jeff), Shelley North (Ron), Jennifer Mansfield, Randy Browning (Tiffany), Amy Grimes (Michael), and Jami Jones (Greg), along with 24 great grandchildren, 15 great-great grandchildren, son in law Scott Milner, sister DeAnn Lee, and two best friends LaNae Townsend and Charlotte Richter. She was preceded in death by her parents, daughter Connie Milner, grandson Brent Browning, husband Kenneth Browning, siblings Ramon Frint, Shirley Felt, and Marla Kirby, as well as many beloved cousins, aunts, uncles, and dear friends.

We would like to thank Applegate Hospice for their tender care in her final weeks. In addition, our family is forever grateful to our family members Jami and Peggy who lovingly cared for grandma for the past 8 weeks since suffering a stroke.
