Clifton Goble

February 2, 1937 — October 24, 2023

Lloyd Clifton Goble, 86, of Syracuse, Utah passed away on October 24, 2023, from heart failure.  Clifton was born to Lloyd R. and Erma Ingram Goble in Nephi, Utah on February 2, 1937. He attended Nephi Schools graduating from Juab High School and Juab Seminary.  He received his bachelor’s degree at the University of Utah.

 

Clif served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in the British Isles.  He also served in the US Army.

 

Clif loved horses.  He was involved in the Utah Western Riding Club Association, where he rode with the Twin Star Riders.  He was highly involved as a leader in youth 4-H programs and Jr. Posse in Davis County and Weber County’s.  He was the leader of the Syracuse Saddle Dusters and North Davis Jr. Posse for 20 years.  He got his horse judging card in 1969 and spent years judging horse shows.  He become the Utah Horse 4-H Judge at Large in 1996 and chairman of the judges training clinics, he also served for 2 years as the President of the Utah State Horse Council and served on the Davis County Fair Board.

 

Clif and his wife Jean loved to dance and spent many hours on the dance floor. One of Clif’s greatest loves was to ride his horse on his beloved mountains. 

 

He could spend so much time as he would ride on the mountain range between Strawberry Reservoir and Soldier Summit, which he fondly called “the top”.

 

Clif was a Data Processing Manager for Smith’s Food and Drug.  His most fulfilling job was when he became a Bus Driver for the Davis School District.  He also enjoyed working at Layton Farm Supply.

 

He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints where he served time as a High Counselor, 1st Counselor in the Bishopric, and as the Bishop.

 

He is survived by his loving wife Jean S. Goble.  His children Layne (Laura) Goble, Kelley (Rob) Adams, Jodi (Blake) Jones, and Lesli (Todd) Barker.  He has 7 grandchildren, and 2 great grandchildren.  He has 2 brothers and 2 sisters, Ray (Miwako) Goble, Hope (Ben) Musselman, Tom Goble (deceased), and Eileen (Roy) Jenkins.

 

Funeral services will be held on Saturday October 28, 2023 at 11am at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints at 700 S. 2500 W. in Syracuse.  Friends may visit with family on Friday October 27, 2023 from 6 to 8pm at the Lindquist’s Syracuse Mortuary 869 S. 2000 W. and on Saturday from 9:30 to 10:30am. Condolences may be sent to the family at Lindquist Syracuse Mortuary.  The service will be live streamed.
