Lisa Childs

October 28, 1965 — December 17, 2022

Our beautiful mom, grandma, sister, daughter, and friend Lisa Childs passed peacefully surrounded by loved ones on December 17, 2022, in Ogden, Utah. Lisa is loved and admired by many and has always been determined, strong, and full of life all the way up until her last moments with us.

She was born in Ogden, Utah to Fred and Anita Childs. She is the youngest of four older siblings who loved, cared for, and protected her fiercely. Much of that love carried into her adult years and was poured into endless love for her own children and grandchildren.

Her home was a place of love and laughter for all who entered. She was constantly looking for opportunities to serve and help her family, and always wanted us close to her. It is perfectly fitting that her favorite flower, the sunflower, is known as the happy flower that is guaranteed to brighten anyone's mood. We are grateful she was our sunflower for so long.

Her two children, Savanna and Spencer and their spouses, were the loves of her life and brought her immense joy. Alongside her two beautiful granddaughters, Nora and Lennyn. Lisa raised her children on her own and graciously fought through many battles of being a young single mother, all with a smile and determination to provide the best life possible for her babies. Perhaps, her greatest accomplishment is that of raising incredible and courageous children no matter the circumstances at hand. She leaves a legacy of grace and steadfastness for all of us.

Lisa worked diligently and excelled in her career of 36 years at America First Credit Union. As department lead, she made lifelong friendships she will always cherish. She was known as “Mama Lisa”, and many respected and continue to speak highly of her for the joy and laughter she brought into the workplace.

Lisa was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Her testimony of Jesus Christ and his atonement grew throughout her life as she faced her trials and tribulations with strength. She loved her Savior, Jesus Christ, with a deep love and we know their reunion was one of relief and immense comfort. Lisa suffered most of her adult life with chronic pain, when she was diagnosed with a rare and terminal cancer in June of 2022, it quickly added to her suffering. We find true solace and peace knowing that she is finally free of an earthly body that was riddled with discomfort. We will never be able to fill the void we are experiencing without her; however, we recognize that her spirit is present with us, pushing us forward and loving us from the other side. She was our biggest cheerleader and supporter in all our endeavors, and we know that will continue until we get to embrace her once again.

Lisa is survived by her children, Savanna (Johnney) Mckinney, and Spencer (Nikki) Childs; her two beautiful and vibrant granddaughters; Nora Mckinney and Lennyn Childs; her dear mother, Anita Childs; her two older brothers, Lynn (Diane) Childs, Scott (Brenda) Childs; her two older sisters; Cindy (Stan) Yamane; Kris (Mark) Woolington; her 17 nieces and nephews; and as well as her most loyal companion, her puppy, Maggie.
