It is with love and gratitude that we remember the life of Linda Fischer Seely, who passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on November 22, 2024, in Farmington, Utah, at the age of 85. She was born November 5, 1939, to Beulah Young Fischer and Harry “Bud” Fischer in St. Anthony Idaho, she was the younger of two children. She spent the early years of her life in the Island Park area, where she learned to ride horses with her cowboy father. At this time, she also developed a love of animals, especially dogs. Later in her childhood she moved to Ashton where she attended school and graduated from North Fremont High School in 1957.
Linda’s world changed forever when she was just 16 and her father passed away suddenly at the age of 45 years old. Her life was shaped by the love and support of those around her. She was baptized into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at 16 years old. Throughout her life, her faith remained a cornerstone of who she was.
Her mother worked hard so Linda could graduate from Utah State University with a teaching degree in political Science and Geography on June 10, 1961. Linda’s early teaching career took her to Anaheim, California for a year. After a little persuasion from Clyde, her future husband, Linda returned to teach in St. Anthony. On November 16, 1962 they were married in the Idaho Falls Temple.
The couple’s early years together were marked by hard work and a shared dream of balancing teaching and farming. To make ends meet while Clyde finished his degree at Idaho State University, they spent several summers working at Three Bear Lodge in West Yellowstone. Upon Clyde’s graduation they were able to teach for a few years and then bought Three Bear Lodge.
Linda was always a dedicated partner to Clyde, a stalwart supporter, loving mother to their children, and a steadfast friend to all who knew her. Her heart was invested in being a grandmother to her 11 grandchildren who she loved dearly. She also enjoyed serving in the Relief Society as Ward and later Stake Relief Society President. During those years of service she touched the lives of countless people, offering her love, support, and guidance to those in need. Linda found great joy in creating beautiful quilts with her dear friends in West Yellowstone, affectionately known as the "Quilting Queens”. Spending time with these wonderful women was one of her greatest pleasures, and they continued their quilting together for many years.
Those who knew Linda will remember her not only for her kindness, but for the twinkle in her eye and the way she effortlessly inspired others to believe in themselves and keep going. Whether she was speaking to youth or adults, Linda had a remarkable ability to uplift and encourage others, helping all those around her recognize their own worth and potential.
She loved traveling with Clyde, and together they shared many adventures. One of her favorite places to be in Maui with her family, where they enjoyed spring vacations for over 40 years. Linda and Clyde traveled by cruise on both rivers and oceans while visiting 5 different continents.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Norman; her daughter, Rochelle Seely Burns; and her granddaughter, London Seely.
She is survived by her husband, Clyde Glen Seely; her children: Stephanie (Merrick)Young, Mike (Michelle) Seely, Brook Seely, and Doug (Natalie) Seely; and 10 grandchildren: Shelby, Kelsey, Drake, and Parker Young; Erik, Nate, and Lena Seely; and Ben, Kate, and Ila Seely.
