Linda Rae Blood Cottrell passed away Sunday, Oct. 20th, 2024, after a short illness at the Beaumont Assisted Living in Bountiful, Utah. Linda was born on January 7, 1944, to Clifton E. Blood and Ivy Elizabeth Child Blood in Salt Lake City, Utah. She attended schools in Davis County. Kaysville Elem. Central Davis Jr. High and Davis High graduating in 1962.
She worked for the Davis County Welfare Department for 3 years and then at the Utah State Child Welfare Department in Salt Lake City for 3 years. In 1968 she started working at Hill Air Force Base and worked at many different jobs at the base.
She met and married Donald E. Cottrell while working at Hill AFB in 1976. When she left work in 1985, she and Don went on a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in 1986 and served in Louisiana mission serving in Laurel, Mississippi. She and Don moved to McGill, Nevada when they returned from that mission. In 1993 she and Don went on another mission to Texas Houston East Mission serving in Friendswood Texas as office missionaries. They returned to McGill and served in many positions in the ward there. She didn't want to live in McGill when she first moved there, but as the years went by, she loved it and the people.
Her husband passed away in 2005 leaving her to take care of the family home. She became very close to Don's daughter Becky, and they bonded like mother and daughter. What a blessing in her life. She lived in McGill for 33 years. In 2009 she met a great man in the area, John Demos and they were great friends for 11 years before he passed away in 2020. At that time, she decided to move to Utah to be closer to Becky and other family members. She moved to an assisted living facility in Bountiful in September 2Linda is preceded in death by her parents, and sisters: Delores Mitchell, Ronalee (Henry) Speckman, Sharron Weyburn. Survived by Becky (Bob) Elmer and her family. She will be missed by her family and sweet friends she met at the assisted living facility, the Branch of friends she had through the church. She felt loved and wanted to help and be involved with activities.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, October, 24th, 2024 in Draper, Utah under the direction of Lindquist Mortuary in Bountiful. We want to also thank the Atlas Hospice for helping to navigate the last week of her life. They were great.
