Layton

Linda Rae (Renden) Hicinbothem  died Thursday, 18 May 2023 ending her battle with Alzheimer’s disease. She lived in Layton, Utah for the past 23 years.

Linda was born January 19, 1953 in Grand Forks, ND to Norman and Jean (Stinar) Renden. She graduated from Grand Forks High School and then attended Beauty School and eventually became a hairdresser.

In 1978, she met Grant Hicinbothem and in 1979 they were married in Lompoc, CA as Linda joined Grant in his military career. They lived in California, Wyoming and New Mexico, and as they moved Linda worked in various Beauty Shops, was a Girl Scout Troop leader, attended some Community College classes, taught Sunday School, and became a Dental Receptionist. The role she was best suited for in those years was being a mother and military wife, moving to new locations six times.

In 1998, Grant retired from the Air Force and moved to Utah for his post-retirement work. Linda followed in 2000 when her daughter graduated High School. It was then that Linda focused her greatest love, arts and crafts. She especially liked scrapbooking and card making. She also enjoyed being a Sunday School teacher.

Linda is survived by her husband and daughter, Lisa of Herriman. She is also survived by her brother, Terry of Grand Forks; her sisters, Vickie, Annette and Janell (Melby) all living in the Minneapolis MN metropolitan area. She is also survived by numerous nieces and cousins living in both ND and MN. She is also survived by her best friend, Barbara Procter of Placerville, CA. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Those wishing to remember Linda are requested to in lieu of flowers to donate to the Diabetes Foundation or to Alzheimer’s research. Both of these diseases impacted Linda’s life significantly.
