Lillie Elin Robinson Barnes, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, returned home to her Heavenly Father on May 10, 2025, at the age of 69.
She was born on November 1, 1955, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Ethel Louise Burkes and Fahy Spencer Robinson. She was the only daughter and the oldest of four children. Lillie grew up in Pleasant View, Utah, and graduated from Weber High School in 1974.
Lillie married Tony Lee Barnes, and they were together for 35 years. They were sealed together for time and eternity in the Salt Lake City Temple. Lillie was dedicated to Tony and found great joy in watching their children and grandchildren grow, cherishing the time their family shared together.
Lillie was a woman of warmth, tenderness, strength, and deep compassion. She talked fast, loved deeply, and gave freely. She had the remarkable ability to be playful and silly one moment, then dive into conversations full of meaning and wisdom the next. Her empathy ran deep—she never left anyone out and had a heart for including those on the margins. She was an animated storyteller, a poet, a joyful singer and guitarist, a creator of beauty even with limited resources, and a believer in finding the good in every situation.
Lillie had many creative gifts and talents that she loved to share with others. She was a gifted massage therapist whose strong intuitive hands brought relief to many. She decorated cakes with flair and imagination. She crocheted blankets for her grandchildren, held beloved family traditions together, and made others feel like they truly mattered. Giving thoughtful, heartfelt gifts brought her genuine joy..but her greatest joy was her family. Being a mother and grandmother was one of the greatest joys of Lillie’s life. Though health challenges often limited her physically she found meaningful and creative ways to show her love and care. Through thoughtful gifts, kind words, and family traditions she made each of the children and grandchildren feel valued and loved. All who knew Lillie knew she loved the color pink, especially bright and fuscia shades that matched her radiant spirit. Her sense of style was uniquely hers always layered just right and finished with jewelry that made her sparkle inside and out.
A devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Lillie lived her faith daily in the way she loved, served, and lifted those around her. Her relationship with Jesus Christ was the guiding force in her life and could be seen in her kindness, service, forgiveness, and compassion. She served faithfully in many church callings, including as a beloved Primary teacher and as a temple worker in the Bountiful Utah Temple. She modelled Christlike love, seeking to serve and lift others in whatever capacity she had.
Though she endured significant health challenges, Lillie never lost her spark or her smile. She showed incredible resilience, grit, and faith in the face of pain, uncertainty, and setbacks that would have discouraged most. Her strength was rooted in her Savior and a deep hope and determination to keep loving, giving, and showing up however she could.
Now free from pain and earthly burdens, Lillie has been joyfully reunited with her Savior and her parents in her heavenly home. What a beautiful celebration must have taken place as she crossed the veil— mission accomplished, race well run. We imagine the celebration there was vibrant and joyful full of hugs, music, and maybe even a little pink glitter.
Her memory will continue to be celebrated by her loving husband, Tony Lee Barnes; her children, Angie Moses Cella, Tyler Moses, Brandon Moses (Shasta), Dylan Barnes (Dalila), and Mackenzie Barnes; grandchildren, Isaac Cella (Erin); Spencer, Davis, and Maxwell Cella; Javen Richens, Savanna, Shaylie, and Bella Moses; Samantha and Baleigh Moses; and Xitlaly and Luna Barnes; great-grandchildren, Fallyn, Hayden, Logynn, Raevyn, and Isaac Junior Cella; and Aviana Rodriguez; brothers, Fahy Jr Robinson and Devon Robinson (Kim).
