Emblem

Our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and sister, age 75, sadly and unexpectedly passed away on June 23, 2025, due to complications during surgery. Her passing leaves a void in the hearts of her family that can never be filled. Born in Ogden, Utah, on December 20, 1949, Mom was the youngest of ten children raised by her loving parents, Santiago Jim Martinez and Clorinda Santistevan.

She graduated from high school in 1969 and married her high school sweetheart and eternal love of her life, Brian E. Marquardt in January 1970. Together they have been inseparable, sharing nearly 58 years of unwavering love and companionship. Mom’s journey included a brief but proud service in the Air Force, followed by her career as a civil servant at Hill Air Force Base. She retired in 1992 after dedicating years to her work, always with a sense of pride and integrity.

Throughout her life, Mom was known for her unyielding strength, fierce love for her family, and her unwavering commitment to doing what was right, no matter the challenge. She found joy in the simplest moments and cherished being with family and especially loved the pink rice that her favorite son-in-law Roman made special for her. Before Parkinson’s Disease impacted her life, she was full of adventure and loved being outdoors at her cabin, spending time with her grandchildren, and was passionate about pursuing various hobbies and crafting. She was an avid thrifter, always on the hunt for the next great find. Her passion for discovering treasures became a shared love with her oldest daughter and son-in-law who learned the art of the “deal of the day” from her.

Mom’s legacy lives on with her husband Brian, her four children, seven grandchildren, and two great grandchildren. She was a dedicated and loving mother to Derek Marquardt, Regina & Roman Chihuahua, Phillip Marquardt (Genna), and Christy Marquardt, who will forever hold close the love and wisdom she so selflessly shared with them, carrying her lessons in their hearts every day.

Her grandchildren will remember Grandma as being fearless, hip and humble, willing to try new social media trends, and her patience with teaching them valuable life lessons throughout their lives. They’ll never forget her teaching them their prayers during sleepovers, how to make the best tortillas, and to love one another always.

Mom, we love you and miss you so much. You will forever be in our hearts.
