Lidia Anca Militescu, a cherished soul known for her adventurous spirit and courageous heart, passed away of natural causes on February 25, 2024, in Ogden, Utah, at age 67. She was a woman who loved her family, her country, and her God with all her heart.
Anca was born to Eracle and Livia Barlea Militescu on September 5, 1956. She lived in Bucharest, Romania, and Chile before moving to the United States in 1980. She lived in New York City and Connecticut, and then settled in Ogden, Utah, in May 2021.
Anca was a faithful disciple of Christ. She was born Catholic and joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in November 2008. She served her fellow saints in a variety of capacities, including as a ward missionary and a temple worker at the Ogden Temple. Her favorite assignment, however, was caring for the toddlers and preschool children in Nursery. She loved the children, her “little cookies,” and delighted in their love for her.
She was a valiant patriot. She loved the stories and honored the sacrifices of those who protect the United States. With endless tenacity, she worked to promote the greatest good for this country through her political activism. She loved to attend the Rolling Thunder Memorial Day Rally in Washington D.C. and spent her last vacation paying tribute to those lost in the Pearl Harbor attacks.
Anca was an adventurer and had a tender heart for animals. She was a wonderful momma to many pets, including her dog, Cookie. She loved horse races, skiing, tennis, the Olympics, and many other sporting events. She loved to spend summer weekends at Bear Lake and winter evenings at Crystal Hot Springs, and she eagerly recruited friends to join her. After all the fun, she was happy to return to the snow-capped mountains that surrounded her Ogden home.
Anca is survived by her brother, Michael Militescu; and her half-brother, Andrew.
Anca was preceded in death by her father and her mother.
A graveside service to celebrate Anca’s life will be held on Friday, March 8, 2024, at 2 p.m. at Lindquist’s Memorial Gardens of the Wasatch, 1718 Combe Rd.
Serving as pallbearers are her brother, Michael Militescu, and her friends, Brent Sorenson, Austin Sorenson, Yancy Zimmerman, and Jeshua Zimmerman.
Anca will be deeply missed, but she is in the hand of the Great Creator, the Master Healer, her Father in Heaven.
