LeRoy Clyde Rackham, known affectionately by all as “Roy R.” was united with his wife, Darlene on April 4, 2026, at the age of 87.
Born on July 1, 1938, in Ogden, UT, Roy was the only child of Henry Frederick Rackham, Jr. and Margaret Ellis, although he had four half siblings from his father’s first marriage.
Roy met his sweetheart, Darlene Mae Penner in high school. After he graduated from Ben Lomond High School, they were married on February 20, 1959, in the Logan Temple. At the time of her passing in 2023, LeRoy and Darlene celebrated 64 years of marriage.
Roy had a great sense of humor and could make light of any situation. His advice, while not usually helpful, would always evoke a much-needed laugh. His favorite quote was, “Lord, it’s hard to be humble when you’re perfect in every way,” a line from a favorite song by Mac Davis.
Camping with his family, especially in West Yellowstone, was something he looked forward to every year. He loved vacations with his family to Disneyland, visiting family in Idaho, and playing cards.
Roy was a faithful member and former bishop of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. For many years of his adult life, he would attend the Ogden Temple with his wife and two of their close friends every Wednesday.
Roy was very loved and will be sorely missed.
Roy is survived by his four children, Mark (Maryann) Rackham, Brian (Angie) Rackham, Lonnie (Tammie) Rackham, and Angie (Adam) Burden; 9 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. In addition to his dear wife, Roy was preceded in death by his parents and by his grandson, Daniel Mark Rackham.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 15, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. Friends may meet with family on Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. and on Wednesday 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the mortuary.
