Leonard Charles Postel

Leonard Charles Postel was called home on July 14, 2025. He suffered from kidney failure and was on dialysis for many years. Len was born in Ogden Utah on June 7, 1937, to Raymond J Postel and Verna M Reynolds.

Leonard entered the Utah National Guard on May 23, 1958, where he served for eight years. He married Mary Jean Fry and had two children, Tim (Sheri) Postel, and Terrie (Dave) Lundgren. Leonard had 12 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.

Leonard married Annette Renn in 1986. He later married Sharilynn Burgie on December 22, 2005, they were sealed later in the Ogden Temple on March 22, 2005.

Leonard was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in various callings throughout his life. He also served with Sharilynn Burgie on a service mission at the Harrison Regent Retirement Home.

Leonard had a love of golf and fishing in various rivers in Wyoming and Montana. He also had a 2° black belt in karate. He was a gifted artist and enjoyed painting many scenes from places he had been.

Leonard worked as a baker for Bell‘s Bakery, Sam’s Bakery, and Albertsons as the bakery manager for 36 years.

Leonard is survived by his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Sharilynn Burgie; his parents; brother, Raymond Postel; and son-in-law, Ronnie VanAlfen.

We would also like to give a special thanks to the wonderful angels at Symbii Hospice Care who came to help care for Len in his last days.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 21, 2025, at 11 a.m. at the Burhc Creek 7th Ward Chapel, 3680 Eccles Avenue. Friends may visit with family on Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. and Monday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church. Interment, Lindquist’s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd.
