Listen to Obituary

Leon Kent Fowers, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away surrounded by family at his home at the age of 86, and returned to the arms of his loving Heavenly Father.

Leon was born on August 5, 1939, in Ogden, Utah to Joseph Lloyd and Leone Eliza Rigby Fowers. He grew up with a deep love of God, faith, and family that would direct his life to the end.

On May 18, 1962, Leon married Juanita Belle Keene in the Salt Lake City Utah Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Together, they built a life of devotion through their love of the Lord, their family, and service to others. They raised their family in Pleasant View, Utah.

A devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Leon served in many callings, with his favorite time being spent serving in the baptistry in both the Logan and Ogden Temples. He served a mission in Western States with headquarters in Denver. Later, he and Juanita served together in the Los Angeles Family History Mission. Leon shared his love of the gospel and his Savior with everyone he met and always had a Book of Mormon on hand to pass along with his testimony.

Leon gave of his time and talents in his community, and especially loved growing and sharing peaches with his neighbors, family, friends, and anyone who wanted them. Leon picked peaches at the church stake farm just days before passing. Leon and Juanita were also recognized as Pleasant View City’s Grand Marshals in 2018. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and could fix or build just about anything and willingly volunteered to help on every project for his children, grandchildren, and neighbors.

Leon worked many jobs over the years to provide for his family, including at Happy Homes, Metal West, Cream O’ Weber Dairy as a milkman, Institute of Religion, and his favorite role as the special needs school bus driver for Weber School District for over 20 years. He cherished the time with the beautiful souls he drove to and from school daily, and they loved him right back.

Above all, Leon cherished his family, who will miss him terribly and will be counting the days until we can be reunited with him again. He is survived by his wife, Juanita; their children, Machel (Kyle) Andersen, Suzie Graves, Kent (Merribeth) Fowers, Julie (Cory) Baggs, Laura (Jason) Flinn, Tracy (Mike) Theis, Amy Cisowski, Jason (Mandy) Fowers, Jared (Kym) Fowers, Emily (Laie) Wong, Timothy “Beezer” Fowers, and Christopher “Dewy” (Nikole) Fowers; a numerous posterity of 142; his brother, Theron (Marilyn) Fowers; and sister, Carolyn (Mark) Hilden.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Ruth Rigby Fowers Briscoe and JoAnn Fowers Heimbuck; infant brother, Wayne Lloyd Fowers; son-in-law. Todd Cisowski; and great-granddaughter, Mara Rodriguez.
