Leah Bodrero Wanczyk "Together Again"
Leah Bodrero Wanczyk peacefully passed away on Saturday, February 11, 2012. She will be missed. Her life touched and helped to shape the lives of so many around her. She loved, worked and shared talents, blessing others along her way.
She was born on April 18, 1922, in Logan, Utah to John George Bodrero and Kate Larsen Bodero. She attended school in Wellsville, and Hyrum, Utah.
World War II broke out and Leah moved to Ogden where she met Charles Wanczyk, a soldier in the US Army. Leah and Charley Wanczyk were married on July 30, 1941 in Evanston, Wyoming. They welcomed two sons, Jim and Glen into their family. Along with raising her sons, Leah worked as a LPN at St. Benedicts (Ogden Regional) Hospital, she then worked at Ogden Defense Depot for many years where she retired.
Charley and Leah developed many lasting friendships and shared a variety of interests when they became empty nesters. They rode bicycles, loved fishing and camping, learning Utah history first hand. They loved camping and fishing trips with their grandchildren. They spent their winters in Mesa, Arizona and traveled to many places. Leah''s hobbies included crocheting, collecting fine old glass and dolls. She made and dressed many beautiful dolls and collected hundreds of them. She proudly displayed many of them in beautiful antique curio cabinets purchased and flawlessly refinished by Charley.
Leah is survived by her two sons, Jim, Ogden; and Glen, Moab; 7 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; siblings: Darrell (Theone), Providence; Louise (Lyell) Stuart, Florida; Elaine, Westminister, California; Joyce (Delon), Sunset; Marlene (Douglas), Garland; and Larry (Judy), Richmond.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles; parents; and 3 brothers.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 17, 2012 at 11 a.m. Lindquist''s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. Friends may visit family on Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Friday 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. at the mortuary. Interment, Ogden City Cemetery.
The family wishes to thank the staff and management of Peach Tree Place for the tender and compassionate care given to Leah during her stay there. We also thank hospice for their kindness and expert care during her last days.
