Laurel Ann Barton

Laurel Ann Barton (Young) passed away peacefully at her home in Kaysville, Utah, with her husband by her side, after courageously battling pancreatic cancer for the past 3.5 years. She was born on August 20, 1956, to Kenneth and Verle Young in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Laurel grew up in Kaysville and graduated from Davis High School. She attended Brigham Young University for one year before marrying the love of her life, Ronald Barton, in the Provo Temple on September 12, 1975. She then dedicated her life to her family and to raising her six beloved children: David (Heather), Rebecca (Israel Stewart), Russell (Summer), Richard, Julia, and Laura (Kent Christensen).

Laurel was endlessly creative—she loved to cook, can, paint watercolors, sew, crochet, and make beautiful things with her hands. She delighted in family gatherings, cherished her 13 grandchildren, and 2 great-granddaughters, with one on the way. She found peace and happiness at the family property in the Uintah Mountains, spending time with her loved ones in nature. She taught piano lessons for many years and played the organ at church, accompanying numerous choirs and performances. Her music brought her and others joy and peace.

She is survived by her husband, Ronald; her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Cody, Jordon, Blakely, Havanna, Quincy, Porter, Tyler, Maxwell, Brianna, Jackson, Crew, Lucy, Jameson, Wrenley, and Aziya; and her siblings, Cheryl (Dave) Parkin, Mark (Judy) Young, Liz (Dane) Held, Marilyn Young, and Matthew (Dotty) Young. She was preceded in death by her parents, Kenneth and Verle Young.

Laurel had a strong testimony of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. She rejoiced in the knowledge that families can be together forever. Her faith brought her great comfort.

Funeral Services will be held Saturday November 8, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. in the Kaysville Tabernacle, 1989 W. Center Street, Kaysville, Utah. Friends may visit with family Friday November 7, 2025, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and Saturday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the Tabernacle. Laurel will always be remembered for her gentleness, her music, her creativity, and the boundless love she gave to her family and friends. She will be missed tremendously.

The family wishes to thank the doctors and nurses at Utah Hematology Oncology Cancer Treatment Center for their dedicated and gentle care of her over the past several years. No one fights alone.
