LaRue W. Allred
OGDEN – LaRue Winn Lundgreen Allred, 85, died Tuesday, May 5, 2009 at McKay-Dee Hospital in Ogden.
She was born May 28, 1923 in Preston, Idaho, a daughter of George Samuel and Lula Leola Clayton Winn.
In 1940, LaRue married Robert F. Lundgreen in Cove, Utah. They were later divorced. She married Thurman H. Allred in June of 1961 Las Vegas, Nevada. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple. Thurman preceded her in death on December 19, 1998.
She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints serving as a leader in many church positions. She enjoyed temple work, having served as an ordinance for many years. She also enjoyed genealogy and being a member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers. LaRue and Thurman served a mission in San Antonio, Texas. Family was her most important calling. Serving and raising her children gave her the greatest joy.
LaRue loved spending time with her grandchildren and had a special affinity for all children. She was a lover of chocolate in all its varieties. She and her sisters went on many trips, traveling and having a great time wherever they went. Mom played softball for many years and was considered a good left handed player.
Surviving are her children, Michael W. (Karen) Lundgreen, Robert E. (Sharron) Lundgreen, Dennis F. (DeAnn) Lundgreen, Kenneth W. Lundgreen, Daniel W. (Irene) Allred, Kathleen (John) Sandberg, Sally L. (John) Hohlbauch, 38 grandchildren and 80 great-grandchildren.
Also surviving are two sisters, Grace Corbridge and Opal Manwill.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, four brothers and one sister.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 3 p.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd.
Friends may call at the mortuary on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday 1 to 2:45 p.m.
Interment, Ogden City Cemetery.
