Larry Ken Newland, 68, passed away peacefully after many years of struggling with lung issues, on Tuesday, December 23, 2025.
He was born on April 16, 1957, in Fairbanks, Alaska, the son of Bobby and Shirley Ann Edge Newland.
Larry proudly served in the Navy during the Vietnam War.
He married Debra Gillman in 1994 in Ogden, Utah. They had one son, Dalton and later divorced. Larry married Barbara Jean Marsh on January 14, 2012, in Las Vegas, Nevada, but have been together since 1997. Larry and Barbara spent many hours going to Wendover and Las Vegas, and traveled to Florida, Tennessee, West Virginia, and numerous other vacations. He loved his Steelers.
Larry a man of the roads; he was a long-haul driver for many years. After moving to Utah, he worked as a truck driver for Alpine Paving. For the last 27 years, he worked for Post Paving as the operations coordinator; he enjoyed being part of the Post Paving family.
Larry is survived by his wife, Barbara; son, Dalton (Jade); stepchildren, Jamie Anderson (Richard Heaps), Carrie Holliday (Mark Gill), and Kyle Rael (Angela Giannitrapani);16 grandchildren, Torie (Carson), Cole (Hailee), Carl, John, Henry, Blake, Maddie, Daevin, Trapper, Timberly, Andrew, Emily, Ella, and Alexander; 4 great-grandchildren, Alice, Wrenley Jo, Brixley, and Knoxley; his mother, Shirley Ann Dobrzynski; and siblings, Kathy (Harry) Edge, Marsha (John) Johns, Linda (Norman) Smith, and Ronnie Newland. He is preceeded in death by his father, Bobby; and his brother, Bobby.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, January 2, 2025, at 6:30 p.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. Friends may visit with family on Friday from 5 to 6:30 p.m. at the mortuary.
The family would like to thank the nurses, doctors, and his special little housekeeper at McKay Dee ICU for their kind and professional care.
