Larry passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on January 22, 2026.

Larry was born in Athens, GA to Charles and Margarete Merritts. Coming from a military family, he lived in many places. As a young boy, he lived several years in a small coal mining town in Pennsylvania, where he and his brothers spent hours exploring the woods. They then moved to Southern CA, where he loved surfing and just being a beach bum. At age 15, they moved to Ogden, UT, where he spent every chance skiing, hunting, and any outdoor sport there was.

After graduating from Ogden High School, he joined the U.S. Army and was deployed to South Korea. He enjoyed spending time with the locals and learning and living their culture. After returning home, he owned a custom chopper and toured the USA with his buddies.

Larry married Marilee Munn and gained two sons, Mike and Aaron Munn. He was a great influence in their lives, always giving them lots of advice, which they still remember to this day.

He was employed at Hill Air Force Base, retiring after 31 years. He spent his life in the great outdoors, fishing, camping, snowmobiling, water skiing, and riding ATV’s.

He adored his five grandchildren who loved camping with him, riding ATV’s, making mud pies and having squirt gun fights. He loved cooking and taught his grandkids how to make his favorite German Schnitzels.

Larry is survived by his wife of 36 years, Marilee Merritts; sons, Mike (Diana) Munn and Aaron (Shannon) Munn; grandchildren, Christopher, Mykaela (Adrian), Lennon, Eden, and Riley; and great-granddaughter, Maycie Zind Munn; and brother, Chuck (Bev) Merritts.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Margarete Merritts; and brothers, Andy, Karl, Bill, and George.
