Larry Hiram Davis passed away peacefully on Monday, April 28, 2025, at the George E Wahlen Veterans Home in Ogden, Utah. Born on February 2, 1941, to Hiram and Coral Ruby Zabriskie Davis in Salt Lake City, Utah, Larry lived a life rich with love, service and purpose.
On May 12, 1966, Larry married Diann Naisbitt in the Salt Lake Temple, where they were sealed for time and eternity. Together, they built a loving family, raising three children: Rick Davis of Plain City, UT; Chris Stout (Chad) of Mountain Green, UT; and Dave Davis (Jenny) of Elizabeth, Colorado.
Larry endured profound loss early in life with the passing of his mother during his childhood and his father shortly after. He was lovingly embraced and raised by his sister Virginia Taylor and her husband William (Bill) Taylor, who welcomed him into their family as their own. Later, Larry continued to be deeply cherished by Bill's second wife, Barbara.
Larry spent his early childhood in Utah before moving with his family to California and later to Las Vegas, Nevada, alongside his siblings, Michael Taylor, Susan Sorenson (Steven), Chuck Taylor (Carol) and Jack Taylor (Thalia).
Larry has always had a good work ethic from a young age he began delivering papers on his bike, became a journeyman steelworker and finished his career in sales and management.
After graduating high school in Las Vegas, Larry attended Dixie College in St. George, Utah. He then continued his studies at Weber State College in Ogden, Utah, where he met Diann, the love of his life.
Larry served several LDS Missions, the first as a young man to New Zealand. The following three with his beautiful wife first in New Zealand, second in St. George and their final mission in the South Sea Islands including Fiji, Somoa, Tonga, and Kiribati. His dedication to service also extended to his country. Shortly after marrying Diann, Larry joined the United States Navy, embarking on a journey that led his family to California, Mississippi and eventually sending Larry to Vietnam. During his two tours of duty with the Navy, Larry courageously fought in the jungles of Vietnam while leading the Navy Seabees team in constructing airstrips and bridges across Vietnam.
An avid athlete, Larry’s passion for sports began with his childhood triumphs as a Pitcher in Little League baseball, even playing in the Little League World Series. He excelled in tennis through high school and college and later took up golf, a pastime he greatly enjoyed. He also had an amazing singing voice participating in musicals throughout high school and college.
Larry is survived by his devoted wife, Diann; his children; grandchildren: Bailee Talley (Jacob), Stran Davis, Chanel Davis, Andy Pappas, Sydnie Pappas Anderson (Gabriel), Victoria Stout, Courtney (Bodi) Bronson, Zack Davis (Tauna), and Brett Davis; as well as four cherished great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Hiram, Coral, Bill and Virginia, his in-laws Reed and Lois Naisbitt, brother Michael Taylor, and son-in-law Paul Vesper.
The family would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to those who provided compassionate care for Larry at Heritage Park in Roy, UT, and the George E. Wahlen Veterans Home.
