Laraine Anne Saunders, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on September 20, 2025, in Kaysville, Utah, at the age of 82. Born on October 9, 1942, in Salt Lake City, she was the daughter of Woodrow Wilson Dutcher and Anne Marie Ryberg.

On June 20, 1970, Laraine married Richard August Saunders in a ceremony held in Salt Lake City, Utah. They were later sealed in the Salt Lake City Temple. Together they built a loving home, creating countless memories while cultivating a deep and lasting bond. Laraine took great pride in her family, and her legacy continues through her husband Richard, their son Weston Saunders, and daughter-in-law Sara Saunders, and her cherished grandchildren Cody Saunders and his wife Emily, and Haley Bothell and her husband Matt. Additionally, Laraine celebrated the joy of being a great-grandmother to little Jane Laraine Saunders, who brought her immense happiness because she carried her name.

 Laraine had a deep love for animals, particularly cats, which reflected her gentle nature and compassionate heart. This passion extended into her community endeavors, as she became the founder of the Animal Assistance League, worked with the Humane Society of Utah and organized and promoted cat shows at the Salt Palace. She worked tirelessly to assist animals in need. Mom’s faith in God was strengthened by being kind to all living things. 

A devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Laraine found strength and support through her faith and community. She held many callings in the church. She was engaged in Cub Scouts as a Den Mother. She was a person of strong influence, often referred to for her wisdom and nurturing demeanor. 

Laraine is preceded in death by her loving parents and her brother Larry Dutcher.

Funeral Services will be held Monday, September 29, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Rd. Layton, Utah. Friends may visit family and friends Sunday September 28, 2025, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and Monday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the mortuary. Interment, Kaysville City Cemetery. 

Laraine's legacy of love and compassion will continue to resonate in the hearts of her family and friends, reminding us all to cherish our loved ones and embrace the joy that surrounds us. Her life was a testament to the power of kindness and devotion, and she will be profoundly missed.
