Listen to Obituary

LaRae Larkin passed away peacefully on September 27, 2025, at the age of 84. She was born April 4, 1941, in Ogden, Utah. When she was six years old, her family moved to Glendale, California, where she grew up. After high school graduation, she attended Glendale Junior College for two years. She completed her bachelor’s degree at Brigham Young University.

She was hired to teach history at Roy High School and taught for many years there. The students loved her, and she was always busy working with student activities. While teaching at Roy, she pursued a Master’s Degree at Utah State University. She then continued her studies at the University of Utah, where she received her Doctorate degree. She was then hired as a professor of History at Weber State University. At Weber State University she taught both European and Russian History. Besides her teaching assignments, she also became the director of Social Science.

LaRae was an excellent teacher and made history interesting and enjoyable. She always had full classes, and the students loved her. She started a history alliance for teachers, who weren’t historians to learn more about history during the summer months. LaRae traveled extensively in Europe, Russia, and Japan. She led many trips for students to these countries to further their knowledge about the different cultures and bring the history alive.

She lived many years in North Ogden, and then had a house built in Eden. She loved Ogden Valley. The last three years she was a resident at Legacy House of South Ogden. We would like to thank the staff of Legacy House for their loving care of LaRae. We would also like to thank Inspiration Hospice for their care and kindness.

LaRae was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and had a strong testimony of the gospel.

LaRae is survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Bryce and Lisbeth Larkin and their family, and numerous nephews, nieces, and cousins. She will be greatly missed by all, but there has been a great reunion in heaven with her parents and those that have gone before her.

At LaRae’s request, there will be no funeral or viewing. Close family will attend a graveside service. Services entrusted to Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary.
