LaDonna Duehlmeier Davis

LaDonna Duehlmeier Davis passed away peacefully on November 30, 2024 at the age of 79 surrounded by her loving family. As she finished her mortal journey, testimonies were shared of a loving Heavenly Father, a wondrous plan of salvation, and the enabling power of the atonement of Jesus Christ that overcomes mortal weakness and provides the peace and joy of eternal families.

LaDonna was born in Salt Lake City, UT on December 17, 1944, the daughter of Fred and Betty Duehlmeier. She was the second of four children with 2 sisters and one brother, Colleen (Myron) Cox, Doug (Susan) Duehlmeier, and Laura (Jay) Kettenring.

She graduated with an associate’s degree from Dixie College and a Bachelor's degree from Utah State University. She earned her degree in home economics education. A teacher at heart, LaDonna dedicated her life to helping others learn and develop and did it with energy and a desire for others to be successful. After graduation she taught for 4 years at the high school level. She then chose to dedicate her time and talent to raising her children. She returned to full-time teaching at North Layton Junior High, where she was beloved by students and staff alike for her energy, inclusion, and unwavering dedication.

LaDonna and her husband Kent were sealed together for time and eternity on March 21, 1969 in the Salt Lake Temple. Their 55 years of marriage was built on a foundation of love, fun, and mutual devotion. They remain steadfast in their commitment to each other and to their faith. Together, they served in a variety of callings in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints; including a memorable mission to Jakarta, Indonesia, where they touched the lives of many. LaDonna loved the youth and most of her church service was spent with the young women and primary where she brought fun and high expectations to those around her.

LaDonna’s family was her greatest joy, and she was the proud mother of five children: Dixon (Cheri) Davis, Diane (Corbin) Bell, Kelli (Derek) Mayfield, Cheryl (Erik) Gillilan, and Krista (Derek) Funk. She was also the adored grandmother to 20 grandchildren: Chandler (Bree), Ethan (Abi), and Halle Davis; Niki, Marissa, Maliya, Preston, and Danica Bell; Carter (Rachel), Davis (Kenna), Karlee, and Brooklyn Mayfield; Logan, Mason, Bree, and Jack Gillilan; and Max, Elizabeth, Harry, and Scarlett Funk.

LaDonna's zest for life and commitment to the gospel of Jesus Christ were felt by all who knew her. She loved spending time with her family and was an incredible source of support and encouragement to her children and grandchildren. She was actively involved in her children’s sports, loved hiking, camping, traveling, and long road trips with her family (visiting 49 of 50 states). Her parties, positive attitude, and laughter will be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her. She loved music which was evident from her time playing the drums in live bands, playing the car radio loud at girls camp, hosting parties in her back yard, and singing and dancing in her home.

LaDonna’s family would like to extend their gratitude to the wonderful Visiting Angels, caregivers at Bristol Hospice, and the many family and friends who cared for her this past year.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 16, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Chapel located at 2680 E. Cherry Lane, Layton, Utah. Friends may visit with the family Sunday evening from 6 to 8pm at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 N. Fairfield Rd in Layton, Utah and again at the church building from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. on Monday morning.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests you take a loved one out for a date with good music, laughter, and positive conversation to honor her.

LaDonna is a testament to the power of love, service, and faith. She leaves behind a legacy that will continue to inspire her family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her. We will always “love you more”.

Interment, Lindquist’s Memorial Park at Layton, 1867 N. Fairfield Rd., Layton, Utah.
