Lawrence Ray Wright, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on the afternoon of Monday, September 15, 2025, at the age of 78. Born on September 14, 1947, in Ogden, Utah, he was the son of Leonard Harper and Ada Belle Barney Wright.
A lifelong resident of the Ogden area, Ray grew up with deep roots in his community. He graduated with the Bonneville High School Class of 1965. He was drafted into the United States Army on December 7, 1966, and served with honor during the Vietnam War. After his honorable discharge on November 25, 1968, Ray returned home and pursued his education at Utah State University, continuing his commitment to personal growth and service.
Ray built a long and accomplished career at Hill Air Force Base, where he worked for 38 years. Known for his strong work ethic and dedication, he retired in 2003, leaving behind a legacy of professionalism and quiet integrity.
Shortly after returning home from military service, Ray met the love of his life, Crystal Thomas. They were married on September 26, 1969, and shared nearly 56 wonderful years together—filled with love, laughter, and unwavering devotion to one another.
Ray was a man who found joy in life’s simple pleasures. A devoted family man and avid movie enthusiast, he never missed a chance to support his children and grandchildren at their sporting events. His happiest moments were spent camping under the stars, surrounded by the family he cherished most. He was always willing to lend a hand or offer his time to those he loved.
Ray is survived by his loving wife, Crystal; their children, Kami (Darren) Blackburn of Morgan, Dee Jay (Allison) Wright of Morgan, Kelly (Casey) Pearson of Hooper, and Cody (Heather) Wright of Hooper; 12 grandchildren, Blaise and Saige Blackburn, Bailee (Cameron) Berthold, Bodee and Boston Wright, Bryson (Kylee) Pearson, Jayden Wright, Gunner Pearson, Adelynn, Colter, Blake, and Zac Wright; and 2 great-grandchildren, Ledger and Swayze Pearson. He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Leon (Joey) Wright; his in-laws, Willis and Josephine Thomas; and his brother-in-law, Ted Thomas.
Ray’s legacy of loyalty, quiet strength, and unconditional love for his family will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.
