Our father, grandfather, brother, and friend, Kyle L. Odekirk, 71, passed away on Thursday, February 19, 2026. He was born on October 2, 1954, in Ogden, Utah, the son of Forrest and Vonda Long Odekirk.

Kyle worked as a mechanic at Hill Air Force Base before his retirement.

He was a quiet man, but he dearly loved his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, his siblings and friends. Kyle had significant health issues that he endured most of his life, but he didn’t let that stop him from doing all the things he loved.

Kyle was a golfer. He began golfing even before he could drive, Mom would have to drive him almost daily to the course. Later Kyle could be seen most days at El Monte Golf Course with his friends and family living his passion.

He was a home body. He loved his home with its bright red roof. He loved taking care of his yard and shucking walnuts as Christmas gifts for his family.

Kyle always loved the outdoors, growing up he enjoyed deer and duck hunting, salmon fishing and camping with his family. He spent many hours racing dirt bikes, dune buggies and four wheelers with his brothers. Later Kyle helped build a true resort for the Odekirk family in Scare Canyon; family and friends have spent many years enjoying this property and because of Kyle’s efforts his prosperity will enjoy it for many years to come.

In the last few years Kyle had taken up electric biking. He could be seen riding his bike every day until this last snowstorm. He enjoyed the exercise, and the relaxation it gave him to soothe his spirit.

Special thanks must be given to Jason and Debbie Odekirk, Craig (Cosy) and Dana Hancock and Jim Wilson. Over the years they have dedicated much of their lives to helping Kyle make his life more fulfilling.

Kyle will be missed by his loved ones left behind, but he is currently experiencing a miraculous reunion with his Mom and Dad that he has missed terribly since their passing. Life continues on and in time we will all be together again.

Kyle is survived by his sons, Jason (Debbie) Odekirk and Travis (Laura) Odekirk; daughters. Lisa (Curtis) Cragun and Ashley Odekirk; brothers, Kim and Lloyd Odekirk; and sister, Gail Baird; a grandson Landon; granddaughters, Marissa, Madison, Tayler, Alizae and Dezerae; great-granddaughters, Elenore, Lenna and Xyla.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Wade and nephew, Cody Odekirk.
