Kim Justin Monroe, a beloved son, brother, father, uncle, and friend, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on December 2, 2025, after a brave and heroic battle with esophageal cancer. He was born on June 14, 1973, in Bountiful, Utah, to Dennis Monroe and Diana Wilson.  He grew to be a remarkable individual who touched the lives of many.

Kim attended Clearfield High School in Clearfield, Utah, where he proudly participated in the JROTC program, fostering a sense of discipline and community that followed him into adulthood. Following his high school graduation, he served his country honorably as a member of the United States Air force, exemplifying commitment and service.

Kim married Chris Cox and together they welcomed their son Justin Monroe on March 9th, 1999. They later divorced.

Kim remarried Angie Monroe in 2019 but later parted as friends.

Kim dedicated the last ten years of his life to serving as a store manager at Autozone, where his soft-spoken demeanor and generous spirit made him a respected figure among his colleagues, employees and customers alike.

A devoted sports fan, Kim's heart belonged to the game. He played baseball for the Ogden Black Sox, where his passion for the sport blossomed. His unwavering enthusiasm extended to cheering on the San Francisco Giants, the Buffalo Bills, Weber State hockey, and the University of Utah Football team. Through sports, he forged connections and shared countless joy-filled memories with friends and loved ones. His love for competition extended beyond the field; he was also an accomplished dart player, earning numerous championship trophies that reflected his dedication and skill.

He approached life with unyielding positivity, choosing to lift others even while facing his own battles. Throughout his courageous fight with cancer, he never complained, displaying immense strength and resilience.

Among his proudest accomplishments was raising his beloved son, Justin Monroe. He instilled values of perseverance, loyalty and integrity during their time together working with the Ogden Raptors and Ogden Mustangs.

Kim's personality shone brightly, characterized by a great sense of humor and a heartfelt generosity that endeared him to everyone he met. He had an innate ability to make those around him feel valued and loved. He was a great friend, always willing to lend support and encouragement, driven by the belief that his blessings came from seeing others happy.

In his personal life, Kim maintained a love-hate relationship with DoorDash and Amazon that often led to playful banter and a slew of pranks that delighted those around him, showcasing his playful and mischievous side.

He leaves behind a loving family who will cherish his memory forever: Dennis and Trudy Monroe (father and stepmother), Diana Wilson (mother), Kari and Ron Kulak and Christie and Ben Garcia (sisters and brothers-in-law), and Ryan Monroe (brother), along with his two nieces and one nephew. Each member of his family knew well the overflowing love and support he provided, and his absence will be profoundly felt.

Kim was preceded in death by his grandparents and 2 stepfathers Larry Bloom and Jack Wilson.

As we gather to honor his life, a viewing will be held on December 12, 2025, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. and again on December 13, 2025, from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Lindquist's Layton Mortuary, located at 1867 N Fairfield Rd in Layton, Utah. A funeral service will follow on December 13, 2025, starting at 2 p.m.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the staff at Intermountain Hospice and McKay Dee Cancer Center for their compassionate care throughout Kim’s battle.

Rest in peace, Kim. Your laughter, kindness, and unyielding spirit will remain in our hearts forever.
