Kevin Orsen Christensen

December 13, 1955 — April 24, 2023

Kevin Orsen Christensen passed away on April 24, 2023, in Layton, Utah.  He was born December 13, 1955, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Orsen Reuben Christensen, Jr. and Ellen “LaVon” Torgerson Christensen.  He grew up in Davis County and graduated from Layton High School in 1974 and attended Utah State University.  He achieved the rank of an Eagle Scout.

Kevin worked in various jobs throughout the years, from meat packing to firefighting for the U.S. Forest Service, which he loved.  He then moved to long-haul truck driving where he spent most of his last years venturing across the country. He enjoyed truck driving because he was often able to stop and visit friends and family in various parts of the country. He carried a set of golf clubs and enjoyed playing at many locations across the United States when he had down time.  Kevin loved the great outdoors; whether he was backpacking, hiking, or camping he enjoyed being out in nature and learning as much as possible.  He enjoyed Utah State football games, followed by dinner at The Factory Pizzeria in Logan.  He liked to read many book genres such as Military History fiction/nonfiction, Science Fiction, Mystery Thrillers, and Environmental Science.  He followed current events closely and enjoyed listening to a variety of XM Radio stations.  He often called family members on their birthday, serenading them first thing in the morning with his own rendition of “Hap’ Birthday to You!”

Kevin married Jeri Sanders in 1978 (later divorced) and they had two children, Ashley (Eric) Quimby, and Amber (Randy) Dupuy.  He married the late Terri Sessions in 1985 (later divorced) and they had three children, McCall (Cherilyn) Christensen, Challis (Kyle) Peterson, and Cache Christensen.

He is survived by his children and nine grandchildren, two brothers, Bruce Christensen, and Gary (Annie) Christensen, and four sisters Pam (Terry) Talbot, Shauna (Joe) Hurst, Tracy (Kevan) Jacobson, Ruthann (Brad) Groneman, and many nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, June 17, 2023 from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Cherry Lane Chapel bowery, 2435 E Canyon Rim Drive, Layton, Utah.
