Kenneth Allred

Kenneth Andrew Allred, 88, of Clearfield, Utah died on Saturday May 7, 2016, at the Huntsman Cancer Institute from complications of lymphoma and pneumonia.  He was surrounded by his beloved wife, Mae, and many family members.

Ken was born December 27, 1927 in Centerfield, Utah to Andrew Franklin and Myrtle Anderson Allred.  He belonged to a large family and spent many great days hunting, camping and fishing 12 Mile Canyon.  He always had a love and connection to the mountains in Sanpete County where his roots were deep.

He met Mae Roberts in Centerfield, Utah.  They were married in 1949 and sealed in the Logan Temple in 1962.  Ken spent most of his career working in the strut shop at Hill Air Force Base where he repaired wheels and brakes.  Always good with his hands, he loved to fix things. If anyone needed a tool or a spare part, he probably had it.  He was known throughout his neighborhood for his friendly conversations and his passion to be of help to anyone who needed it.

He joined the Marines in 1945 and served 18 months at the Naval Base in San Diego, California.  He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints where he served faithfully.

Ken’s hunting stories were legend.  He loved telling his mountain lion story and others as often as he was asked.  He encouraged his children and grandchildren to write their own hunting stories.

Ken is survived by his beloved wife, Mae and his six children, Alan (Kathy) Allred, Kaysville, Janet Barnes,Kaysville, Reed Allred, Deer Lodge, Montana, Anna (Kent) Thorsted, Clearfield,  Nancy (Layne) Robinette, West Point and Brian (Diane) Allred, South Jordan,  32 grandchildren and 61 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.  He is also survived by six brothers and sisters; Max Allred, Grant Allred, Helen Andreason, Donna Anderson, Della Bunnell, and Ace Allred.

He is preceeded in death by his parents, siblings; Doris DeMill, Everett Allred and Leath Allred.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 11, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at the Clearfield 9th Ward, 838 E. 600 S. Clearfield, Utah  Friends may visit with family Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 N. Fairfield Rd. and Wednesday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church.
