Kathryne Lynn Dyer

September 8, 1938 — August 12, 2024

Our loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, Kathryne Lynn Dyer passed away peacefully on Monday, August 12, 2024. She was born in Kemmerer, Wyoming, on September 8, 1938, to Clinton DeWitt and Kathryne Sommers Oakley. Her family moved to Gooding, Idaho, where she graduated from Gooding High School. Kathryne graduated with an Associate degree in secretarial from Stevens-Henager College.

Kathryne was a lifelong member of the Episcopal Church.

Kathryne worked at Hill Air Force Base and met her sweetheart, Herbert C. Dyer. They were married on November 23, 1964, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Ogden, Utah. Herbert and Kathryne settled in Pleasant View. They had three children, Mary, Clay, and Rob. Herbert passed away on June 23, 1975. Kathryne was a wonderful homemaker and raised their three children alone.

In 1987, Kathryne went to work in the Personnel Department at the US Forest Service and retired after 14 years. She enjoyed working at the Forest Service and made many lifelong friends. She especially enjoyed taking the “show me” trips to get out of the office and visit the outdoor areas.

She loved animals especially her doggies, Babs and Zeke, who were always there to welcome her home with their tails wagging. She took pleasure in attending Broadway Shows, her favorites were Les Miserables and Hamilton. Her most treasured moments were being with her children and grandchildren.

Kathryne is survived by her children, Mary (Chuck) Palmer, Clay Dyer, and Rob (Jenifer) Dyer; five grandchildren, Cody (Maddie), Chandi (Chris), Jaren (Chandler), Ty, and Elliott; and seven great-grandchildren, Wesson, Rhett, Bowen, Skylah, Hudson, Hallie, and Atlas. She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; and brother, Bill.
