Katherine Tingey Morton

Katherine (Kathy) Tingey Morton peacefully passed away on Sunday, July 30, 2023 in her home in Syracuse, UT.

She was born to Conway Parsons Tingey and Berdine Steiner September 28, 1961 in Bountiful UT. She was raised in Centerville and spent her childhood sledding, hiking to Mahogany Grove, and camping with her family, however she had to stay at low altitudes or spend the camping trip sick in the truck. As a child she loved to spend her time dancing and loved tap and ballet. She graduated from Viewmont High School in 1980.

In 1980 she was starstruck by a big red truck, little did she know the driver of that truck would become her husband; in 1981 she married Bruce Morton in the Salt Lake Temple. She followed Bruce where his work took them, such as West Bountiful, Layton, Reno, Kaysville, Denver, and Syracuse.

Kathy was a wonderful fierce mother and devoted her life to her children, she took pride in her home and loved decorating for every holiday. Kathy’s fascination of gardening bloomed when she worked at Ernst- she always knew what fertilizer to use and loved helping the customers make their yard as beautiful as she kept hers. She loved working in the Cub Scout program and did for many years.

Kathy is survived by her husband Bruce Morton; son Bryan Morton (Taylor) and daughter Sarah Morton; her siblings Kim (Melanie) Tingey, Julie Crandall, and Tammi (Ian) Parish;and her mother, Berdine Tingey. Special thanks to the Syracuse First Responders.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 5, 2023 at 11 a.m., at the Lindquist’s Syracuse Mortuary, 869 South 2000 West, Syracuse UT. Friends may visit with the family Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. and 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday, at the mortuary. Interment, Syracuse Cemetery, 1250 South, 1000 West Syracuse UT.
