Katherine Elaine Beard Hadlock
Katherine Elaine Beard Hadlock, 81, passed away on December 9, 2012 of multiple system failure complicated by multiple myeloma-cancer of bone marrow.
She was born on July 8, 1931 in Salt Lake City, Utah, the third of five daughters, followed by two sons born to Joseph E. and Edna Jensen Beard. Attended schools in Wanship and Coalville, Utah, and was valedictorian on graduation from North Summit High School where she was actively involved in band and choral activities. Attended BYU and the U of U and graduated with honors with an Associate of Arts degree in nursing from Weber State University. Served as a registered nurse at McKay-Dee Hospital for 20 years, a work she dearly loved.
Katherine married John Clark. They were later divorced. She married Dennis G. Hadlock on September 8, 1962 in the Manti LDS Temple.
As a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Katherine was actively involved as chorister and teacher in Sunday School, Primary, M.I.A., and Relief Society; ward choir director and ward music chairman. She served on Stake Sunday School and M.I.A. boards. She served in the Georgia Atlanta Mission with her beloved husband, Dennis, from 1981 to 1983.
Katherine and Dennis loved traveling, camping and hiking. They had been to every state but Alaska, North Dakota and Maine. They also toured Taiwan, Japan and Hong Kong.
Survivors include sons, Michael Allen Clark, Clinton, UT and Scott Joseph (Debra) Clark, Malad, ID; six step-children, Brent (Connie) Dion and Stephen Hadlock, all of Bountiful, UT, Karen (John) Seaman, Farmington, UT; Ann (Jeff) Horan, Highlands Ranch, CO; Christine (Stan) Jenne, Orem, UT; daughter-in-law, Debra Hadlock, Springville, UT; 20 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; four sisters, Margery Bitter, Salt Lake City, UT; Marian Osborne, Layton, UT; Darlene (Dean) Fernelius, Uintah, UT; Bernice Good, Clinton, UT; brother, Glen (Elaine) Beard, South Jordan, UT; and sister-in-law, Phyllis Jones, Rexburg, ID. Katherine had loved cats and made a loving home for many strays, Princess, Buffy and Rescue survive.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Dennis; parents, brother, Melvin J. Beard and step-son, Dean Hadlock.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 12, 2012 at 11 a.m. at the Clinton 4th Ward, 1448 West 1800 North. Friends may visit with family on Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist''s Roy Mortuary, 3333 West 5600 South, Roy, and Wednesday from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. at the church.
Interment, Lindquist''s Memorial Gardens of the Wasatch, 1718 Combe Road.
Katherine expressed her gratitude to the dear sisters in the 4th, 6th and 10th Wards who have given so much compassionate service and show so much love. I love you, dear sisters. Thanks also to Kathy from Summit Hospice for being so special.
