KarrJ West, age 75, passed away peacefully during the early morning of July 6, 2023 with his beloved wife by his side, after a 10-year valiant battle with Dementia.
Karr was born on January 5, 1948, in Ogden Utah to Richard and Alice West. Karr was raised in Ogden and Clinton and graduated High School from Clearfield High. He served as a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in the Dallas/Fort Worth Texas Mission. Upon returning, Karr met the love of life, Jacalyn (Jackie) Jensen. They were married in February 1971 in the Salt Lake Temple.
Karr worked most of his life for Cream O’ Weber Dairy in Ogden where he was a warehouse foreman before moving into purchasing. He was forced to retire early because of his eyesight but stayed busy as a substitute teacher. Karr was always volunteering and spending time as a coach.
KarrJ and Jackie welcomed their first child, Richard (Rich) in June 1973, their 2nd son, Dustin in June 1976, and their baby girl, Natalie, in October 1980. Their children were always their focus, priority, and joy in life. Karr spent much of his life serving, including as Bishop of the South Weber 2nd Ward.
Karr loved taking the family camping during the summer and to Disneyland in the winter every year. Karr was one of the best, most dedicated grandpas you could ask for. His grandchildren absolutely loved and adored him. He taught many of his grandkids how to swim and read when they were younger. He would go on walks with his grandchildren to the park, play games and constantly entertain them on their level for hours. Karr had a love for baseball, which he passed down to his kids and grandchildren. Many wiffle ball games were played in the yard for family gatherings when the weather was beautiful. His favorite baseball team was the Texas Rangers, of course, since he served his mission in Texas. He loved wearing baseball socks and Disney themed socks to church every Sunday!
Karr is survived by his wife, Jackie, brother Randy (Nancy) and sister Peggy Odle (Bob), his children Rich (Kristie), Dustin (Stacey), Natalie (Aaron). He will be sorely missed by his grandchildren Karson, Kayla, Konner, Kynlie, Dallin, Amanda, Summer, Hannah, Nathan, Shelby, Morgan, Brigham, and Elsie. He was preceded in death by his parents Richard and Alice (Page) and brothers Richard and Kent (Roberta).
