Karren Alma Niederhauser

January 20, 1933 — May 22, 2024

Karren Alma Niederhauser, a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend to many, passed away on May 22, 2024. He was born on January 20, 1933, in River Heights, Utah to Alma Joseph Niederhauser and Violet Bindrup Niederhauser.  Karren was a devoted individual whose life was defined by his commitment to serving others.
 
Throughout his life, Karren dedicated himself to various forms of service. Whether it was constructing homes, working with cement, building sheds, or helping out his family, friends, and church community, he always did so with a generous and selfless spirit. His hobbies included fishing, hunting, backpacking, gardening, wood working, and even flying planes – showcasing his love for adventure and creating things.
 
Karren also had a distinguished military career, having served in both the US Army and the US Air Force. His service to his country was a testament to his values of duty and sacrifice. 
 
One of Karren's proudest achievements was his deep involvement in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served as a bishop and on the high council. He also undertook missions in the Swiss Austrian Mission and St. Louis, Missouri alongside his dear wife Joanne Niederhauser.
 
In the hearts of those who knew him best, Karren will be remembered for his kind soul and unwavering dedication to all those around him. He touched the lives of many with his warmth and generosity.
 
Karren is survived by six children: Julie (Dave) Grose, Jeff (Fran) Niederhauser, Carrie (Scott) Vaterlaus, Spencer (Aly) Niederhauser, Steven (Tammy) Niederhauser, Debbie (Mike) Christensen; 
three brothers: Mark Niederhauser, Bruce Niederhauser, Clare Niederhauser; along with 20 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his beloved wife Joanne Niederhauser, brother Lynn Niederhauser, and sister Katherine Wallace.
 
Funeral Services will be held Thursday, May 30, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at the Lindquist's Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road, Layton, Utah. Friends may visit with family prior to services from 9:00 to 10:30 a.m. at the mortuary.
 
Interment-Providence River Heights, Utah.
