Justin Hacking Gale

August 24, 1998 — January 4, 2023

Justin Hacking Gale, beloved son, brother, grandson, uncle, and friend, passed away after a prolonged battle with mental illness on January 4, 2023, at his home in Brigham City, Utah. Justin was born August 24, 1998, in Houston, Texas, to Jeffrey Hacking Gale and Theresa Gelder Gale. He attended Antelope High School and graduated from Delta Charter School in 2016. He also attended Salt Lake Community College. Justin worked for Sun Splash, Home Depot, Walmart, Discount Premium, Rocky Mountain Air Solutions, and Grub Hub. He lived in Katy, Texas; Antelope, California; Spring, Texas; Japan; West Valley City, Utah; and Brigham City, Utah.

Justin spent his childhood working with tools and building things, playing games with family and friends, and spending time with animals and in nature. He was involved in boy scouts, tennis, and breakdance. He played trumpet in his high school marching band, and participated with them when they were invited to perform in the national 4th of July parade in Washington DC. He was enthusiastic about experiencing new things. One of his favorite accomplishments was hiking to the top of half dome in Yosemite National Park. He loved movies, video games, science, weightlifting, music, friendship, learning, and creation. He was passionate about philosophy and intellectual conversations. He loved Japanese culture and fulfilled his lifelong dream of living in Japan for a time in 2019. He enjoyed working on computers and wanted to go into cyber security.  Justin was a person who actively listened and expressed interest in those he met. He was an attentive caregiver to his grandmother for a time. Despite the challenges he faced, he was slow to anger, kind and generous to those around him. In the words of a friend, “He was always polite, helpful, respectful, and just a really nice boy. Justin helped make our house a home… He was loved and will be missed so much”.

He is survived by his parents, Jeffrey and Theresa Gale; grandmother, Leah Hacking Gale; siblings, Wayne Gale (Vanessa), Steven Gale (Kelly), Hillary Jensen (Matthew), Heidi Blunt (Gregory), Harmony Davidson (Troy), and Jonathan Gale; and 25 nieces and nephews. Justin will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved him.
