Julia Kaye Braithwaite, 93, a long-time resident Ogden and Perry, Utah, passed away inKaysville on the morning of March 8, 2026, of natural causes. Born on August 18, 1932 in Ogden, Julia is the daughter of Sohpia Maude “Kaye” Jones and Morris Edward Smith.
After graduating from Ogden High School Julia began working in Salt Lake City for the government.
She furthered her education by taking courses at Weber State College.
For much of her life, Julia worked as a Cardiovascular Technologist for several doctors in Denver Colorado.
Julia never had any children, but was married to the love of her life, James Richard “Jim” Braithwaite, in August of 1989 in Ogden. They were later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Julia enjoyed genealogy. She loved researching her family and taking the names she researched to the temple. She also loved her family and spending time with her aunts, uncles, listening to their stories and playing with her cousins. One of her favorite activities was golfing with Jim. Together they were able to travel and spent time in Connecticut and Mississippi. Julia had a love for people and made dear friends wherever she went. She was the most gracious and loving person and developed lasting friendships whether she was someplace for a hour, a day, or a year.
Julia will be remembered for her wit, her kindness and concern for others, her generosity, and her optimistic outlook on life.
After Jim passed she continued to live at Treeo and the relationships she had at Treeo, Perry, Connecticut, Mississippi, Denver, or where ever she went were lasting friendships.
Julia is survived by her brother, Maurice Smith; her nieces, Natalie Moffit, Mykalene Shaw, Tiffany Parkinson; nephew, Nate Smith. She is also survived by her cousin, Ryan (Robin) Harris and their children. In addition to her husband, Jim, Julia was preceded in death by her mother and father, Sohpia Maude “Kaye” Jones and Morris Edward Smith.
The family wishes to thank the staff of Atlas Hospice and of Whisper Cove Assisted Living and Memory Care in Kaysville for their kindness and professionalism.
Graveside services will be held on Friday, April 10, 2026 at 11 a.m. at the Hooper Cemetery.
