Judy Gay Jensen Berrett, our beautiful, sweet, spunky, wife, mom, “Lil’ Gram,” and friend, died peacefully on Monday, March 30, 2026, at the age of 81, surrounded by her loving family. Although the last five years have been challenging due to declining health, in true Judy fashion, she endured valiantly to the end.
Judy was born to Arthur Gordon Jensen and Helen Joyce Jensen on October 17, 1944, amid the cloud of WW2. Her birth was unique, because her dad was missing in action at the time and later a POW; he was unaware of her birthdate until January of 1945.
Judy grew up in Clearfield with her lifelong friend, Carol Ann Hamblin Gibson, and enjoyed the relationships she had with both her Jensen and Lindsay’s cousins. She graduated from Davis High school in 1962 and was fortunate to be lined up by mutual friends from Weber High to her eternal companion, Allen Berrett.
Allen and Judy were married September 20, 1963, and were later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple. Together, they have lived a fruitful life in Taylor, Utah, teaching their five daughters the value of hard work and humility. Their daughters are Bobbi (Rob) Coury, Pam (Bryce) Ballif, Rozanne (Neal) Clarke, Annette (Adam) Hall, and Tara (Ryan) Orrock.
Judy was talented in many ways, but her favorite hobbies and skills were gardening, harvesting, and cooking. She took great pride in her produce and sold them to many grocery stores and local markets in the Ogden area. She loved to share her produce with many neighbors, friends, and family. She was often affectionately known as the “Garden Angel.” Judy was also an amazing cook; every Sunday was like eating a Thanksgiving dinner. Everyone’s favorite was “Judy’s Jam,” which she and Allen shared with so many friends and neighbors over the years.
She spent her professional career working for Weber School District as an elementary school secretary. Mrs. Berrett worked at Kanesville Elementary, Farr West Elementary, and West Weber Elementary. She was loved by all the students, the staff, and she built lasting relationships with so many colleagues and friends.
Judy was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She had a strong testimony of Jesus Christ and His teachings. She had a natural gift for loving and serving others, making each person feel valued and loved. Her life was blessed with countless lifelong friends whom she loved and adored.
Her greatest joy in life was her family. She was our #1 fan and cheerleader. She never wanted to miss out on a chance for fun and was willing to try just about anything. At a moment’s notice, she would drop anything to serve, support, and be with her family.
Judy is survived by her amazing, kind, and gentle husband of 63 years, Allen; her five daughters and their spouses, all of whom she felt were her own sons; and her eleven grandchildren: Broc (Tiff) Ballif, Abbie (Trevor) Bennett, Collin Hill, Avery (Jace) Whicker, Tommy Clarke, Lily (Logan) Smith, Nick Clarke, Olivia Orrock, Luke Hall, Lola Orrock, and Abe Orrock. She is also survived by her two step-grandchildren, Joe Coury and Maddie Shaffer; her great-grandboys: Brooks, Banks, Burke, Jones, and Beck; her sister, Darla Cunningham; her brother-in-law, Kim Orr; and her brother and sister-in-law, Ralph and Alice Rowley.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her parents-in-law, Maurice and Marian Berrett; her sister, Mickey Orr; her brother-in-law, Kelly Cunningham; and her granddaughter, Chloe Clarke.
Her daughters would like to publicly thank their dad, Allen, for the tender way he cared for her during her declining health.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday, April 4, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at the Ogden West Stake Center, 2200 South 4300 West, Ogden, Utah. Friends may visit with family Friday from 6:00 to 8:00 pm and Saturday from 9:30 to 10:30 am at the church. Judy will be laid to rest at the West Weber Cemetery.
