Joyce Terry

January 23, 1933 — December 24, 2021

Joyce Hansen Terry

Our sweet mother, Joyce Hansen Terry, passed away on Christmas Eve on December 24, 2021, at 11:00 AM in her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born January 23, 1933, in Mt. Pleasant, Utah, the fifth of ten children of Gy Carlton and Ethel Vendora Shepherd Hansen.

Joyce was raised for most of her life in Idaho Falls, Idaho, where her father owned and operated a 5,000-acre dry farm. Joyce’s parents were very proud when she was the first of their 10 children to graduate from Idaho Falls High School. She went on to attend college at BYU.

She married David Ray Terry on June 8, 1956, in the Idaho Falls Temple. Following their marriage, they lived in Provo, UT, where Joyce and David both attended Brigham Young University. There Dave received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees. They moved to Dugway, UT for a time then to Ogden, UT. When Dave was accepted at the University of Illinois, the family moved to Champagne, where he obtained his Ph.D.

Joyce worked hard all of her life, mostly in banking. She worked for the Bank of Eastern Idaho, Commercial Security Bank, and retired after many years as the Operations Supervisor at Weber State Credit Union (Ascent).

Joyce has always been an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served as a counselor in the Young Women’s Presidency, Relief Society Counselor, Laurel Advisor, Sunday School Teacher, Primary Teacher, dance director, camp director, and an amazing ministering sister. She ministered to everyone in the neighborhood, not only those assigned to her.

She was a loving mother, a grandmother to 13, and great-grandmother to 10, with the 11th due on January 12, 2022.

Joyce is survived by her children, Aleesa (Teag) Solberg of Littleton, Colorado; David (Jalaire) Ray Terry II of Lehi, Utah; Dru Gy Terry of Ogden, Utah; and Tracey Meade of Fruit Heights, Utah; 13 grandchildren, Tiffany (Solberg) Winterhalter, Tristan Solberg, Teag Mark Solberg II, Trevor Solberg, 2nd Lt, USMC, Taniel (Solberg) Nickerson, Jayden Terry, Kijrah Terry, Chandler Terry, Pryce Terry, Elle Terry, Rhenik Terry, Paxton Terry, and Jason Terry; 10 great-grandchildren, Jennifer Winterhalter, Austin Winterhalter, Michael Quintana, Teag Solberg III, Alice Solberg, Jesse Solberg, Julia Solberg, Wyatt Nickerson, Ally Nickerson, and Talon Terry; and by one loving sister, Billie (Hansen) Wilson of Willard, Utah. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and six brothers and two sisters.
