Joyce is the daughter of J.A. Miller and Wilma Goodrich Miller and was a beloved sister of Karen. She graduated from Riley High School in South Bend, Indiana, and furthered her studies at Purdue University in Lafayette, Indiana. At Purdue she met Alan Green. They were soon married and started a family. They lived in Indiana, Illinois, Iowa, Virginia, and eventually moved to Utah in the 60’s. They had 2 sons together and later divorced.

Joyce married the love of her life and best friend Roscoe Herrington on January 17, 1973, in Ogden, Utah. They were happily married for 42 years before his passing in 2015. They lived in North Ogden for many years before moving to South Ogden in retirement. Joyce was a member of Trinity Presbyterian Church and sang in the choir for many years, she was a superb soprano. She served faithfully as a Deacon and Elder of the church.

Joyce had several jobs throughout her life, and she had quite a flair for fashion. She was always impeccably dressed and still put on her make-up, lipstick and had her hair done right up until last days. She worked at the Bon Marche Department store selling women’s fashion for several years. She loved helping women pick out outfits that made them feel beautiful. Another favorite job was working for the Ogden Symphony Ballet as an office manager. Joyce’s favorite job in life was keeping her home pristine and planning and cooking wonderful meals for her family.

To say Joyce was an avid reader would be an understatement. She had a passion for reading and you could always find her surrounded by a few books and a box of Kleenex. Her favorite book was the Bible, and she enjoyed reading the New Testament over and over. To balance that our, she had several hundred murder mystery books she liked to read over and over as well.

Her passion for reading created a heart-felt avenue for her to be involved as a community volunteer to help people learn to read. She began volunteering her time at elementary schools where many of the students did not speak English in the home. She would spend hundreds of hours each year helping students one on one learn how to read and write, she tutored them in the evenings in their homes when they got off work. Fostering a love for reading and writing in those she taught brought her an incredible sense of joy and fulfillment.

Joyce is survived by her three sons, Alan F. Green, David A. Green and James R. Herrington; six grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

She joins her family members in eternal rest, husbands Alan W. Green and Roscoe B. Herrington; her father J.A. Miller, mother Wilma Goodrich Miller and sister Karen Horvath. Joyce’s spirit and legacy will forever be remembered and honored by her family.
