Joseph Edward Melchior

Joseph Edward Melchior of Clearfield Utah died on January 23, 2023, at his home in Clearfield, Utah. After years of declining health and a brave attempt of paramedics, firemen and police to save his life.

He was born June 19, 1952, to Jacob Melchior and Jane Green Melchior in Syracuse New York.

He married Lis R. Graves and later divorced. He married Susan Wofford Rollheiser on January 25, 1985, in Ogden, Utah. They had 2 sons, Nathan Joseph Melchior (Mary) of Clearfield, Utah, Dutch Rollheiser (Kathy) of Ogden, Utah, and one grandson, Oliver Melchior of Clearfield, Utah. He loved his family and was deeply proud of each of them.

Joe proudly served his Country in the U.S. Army in Vietnam and later at Rhein Main AFB Germany Military Police. U.S. Customs. He was chosen to take part in the 1973 Presidential Inauguration Honor Guard. Joe retired from HAFB. Throughout Joe’s life he was always aware of world events and the political climate. He never missed casting his ballot and did so with honor and duty.

Joe was an avid reader, a lover of old movies, history and sports of all kinds. He was a fan of all New York teams especially the New York Giants.

He is survived by his wife, Susan, Sons, Nathan and Dutch, Daughter in-laws, Mary and Kathy, grandson, Oliver, brother Jimmy Melchior of New York, sisters; Jane Byrne of New York,  Millicent Dykes of New York, Debbie Longhouse of McKenney Texas, and his dear and faithful friend Kenny Songer.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Jake and Charli, and sisters Linda and Donna.

Funeral Services will be held Tuesday January 31, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. at the Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road, Layton, Utah. Friends may visit with family Monday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and Tuesday from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. at the mortuary.
