 Joseph Park Johnson

Joseph Park Johnson, 83, left this mortal existence on Friday, December 10, 2021 at his home in Layton, UT, surrounded by his wife and children.  Born on January 6, 1938 in Tooele, UT, Joe was the second son of Amy Park and Theodore R. Johnson.  The family subsequently moved to Ogden, UT where Joe attended Ogden High School, Weber College, and later graduated from the University of Utah.  He worked in the banking industry for most of his professional life.

Joe married Merlene Palmer in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on September 14, 1960, and they recently celebrated 61 years together.  He was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served two years in the Hawaiian Islands Mission – a place that remained dear to his heart.   After retirement, he served church service missions at the Ogden Cannery and LDS Conference Center.

Joe enjoyed cruising and traveling the world, boating, entertaining grandkids, working on projects, attending the temple, and doing genealogy work.  He lived a life dedicated to serving family and friends and loved doing so.

Joe is survived by his wife and three children, Bob Johnson, Shelley Johnson, and Sydney Jones (Kyle); seven grandchildren, Brooke McIntire (Jake), Mitchell Johnson (Bri), Matthew Jones (Kendal), Nate Jones, Mark Jones, Libby Levine and Macey Levine; two great-grandchildren, Grant McIntire and Charlotte McIntire and baby Theo Johnson on the way; sister-in-law Jeri Johnson Ventura and numerous other beloved relatives.  He was preceded in death by his brother Alan Johnson of Rancho Santa Fe, CA and half-siblings Lucille Bodmer, Ted Johnson, and Ken Johnson.

Joe was laid to rest at the Ogden City Cemetery on Saturday, December 11, 2021, surrounded by his family. In lieu of flowers, Joe would be honored by a contribution to the Humanitarian Aid Fund of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

The family wishes to express heartfelt thanks to friends at Inspiration Hospice for the loving care they extended to Joe and his family.
