Jordan Reicher Maw, born December 13, 1982 in Ogden, Utah, passed away on April 23rd after a short battle with sepsis, leaving behind a lasting imprint on all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Jordan was a larger-than-life presence—someone you couldn’t miss in a room. His personality brought energy, laughter, and a sense of connection wherever he went. He had a creative spirit that showed itself in many ways, especially in the kitchen, where he was a gifted cook. He honed his skills working in a Michelin-star restaurant, where his passion and talent for food were evident to all who experienced it. Preparing meals was one of the ways he expressed care for others, and those who shared food with him knew they were part of something special.
He had a deep love for nature, especially plants. Jordan found joy in nurturing life from the ground up, often planting acorns with the hope of watching them grow into trees. He also loved cultivating gardens, with a particular passion for growing hot peppers—tending them with patience, pride, and curiosity.
Jordan found peace and happiness in the mountains, where he loved to hike alongside his rescue dog, Sookie. Those adventures reflected his love of the outdoors and his appreciation for quiet, meaningful moments in nature.
Jordan also cherished the time he spent working alongside his dad. The two could often be seen driving around together in a work truck, dogs hanging out the windows, right by their side, sharing conversation, laughter, and the quiet bond that comes from time spent side by side. Those moments became some of the most meaningful parts of his life.
Family meant everything to Jordan. He adored his nieces and nephews and made a point to stay connected with them, often reaching out with jokes, humor, and lighthearted moments that they will never forget. He had a unique way of making people feel seen, valued, and entertained all at once.
To his family, Jordan was not just a brother, but a vibrant and irreplaceable presence whose memory will continue to live on in stories, laughter, and the lives he touched.
Jordan is survived by his parents Rick and Melinda Maw, his sister Ashley Austin (Mark) and his nephews Maxwell and Noah Austin and niece Mia Austin. They will carry his spirit with them always. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
“Some people plant seeds not just in the earth, but in the hearts of others—and those continue to grow long after they’re gone.”
We will be honoring Jordan’s life on Saturday, May 2, 2026 at 2:00 pm at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 N. Fairfield Rd., Layton, Utah.
