JoNell Goddard

November 12, 1942 — November 29, 2023

JoNell Puffer Goddard returned to her heavenly home on November 29, 2023. The second child of Oren and Margaret Puffer, she was born in Beaver, Utah on November 12, 1942. She was raised on the Milford Flats and graduated from Milford High School. She married her eternal sweetheart, Robert “Bob” Goddard, in a small ceremony at the Little White Wedding Chapel on
the Las Vegas Strip on January 30, 1964. The pair were later sealed in the St. George Temple on December 19, 1964. Together, they raised three beautiful daughters—Wendy, Sheri, and Bobbi.

JoNell will always be known for her kind and giving heart. She loved brightening other’s days and looked forward to visits with friends and neighbors. She was a firm believer in making life sweet and never let anyone leave without some kind of treat. One of her greatest joys and favorite memories was her “Carebear” group, named after her love of bears. The group consisted of more than 30 children from the neighborhood and surrounding area who would gather regularly at her home for activities including crafts and treats.

She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She had a very strong testimony that she never hesitated to share. She found joy in her church callings including serving as the Primary president, Young Women’s president, and in the Relief Society presidency in various wards in Nevada, California, and Utah. JoNell also loved being a member of The Daughters of the Utah Pioneers.

JoNell is survived by her husband, Robert; daughters Wendy (John) Wabel and Bobbi (Bill) Strayer; son-in-law Dan Johnson; grandchildren Michael (Chris), Rachael (Sean), McKenzie, Brookelyn (Eli), Joshua, Matthew (Tara), and Wil (Jataya); five great-grandchildren; and her sister Annette Pitts and brother Joe (Connie) Puffer. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister
Patsy Nilsson; daughter Sheri Johnson; and three great grandchildren.
